Our client, a high profile Government Department, is looking for a Java Developer for a contract until 30 June 2027 with a possibility to extend by up to 12 months. This is an opportunity for an experienced Java Developer to design, develop, maintain and modernise critical enterprise applications, contributing to strategic ICT initiatives and operational excellence within a Federal Government environment.

In this role you will perform the following tasks but not limited to:

- Design, develop, enhance and test enterprise software applications in line with business requirements and development standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, optimise performance and modernise existing systems.
- Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to deliver effective solutions and achieve business objectives.
- Produce high-quality technical documentation, mentor junior developers and contribute to project planning and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with governance frameworks, policies and procedures while supporting critical operational activities and delivery priorities.

To be successful, you must have the following skills / experiences:

- Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining robust,



scalable enterprise applications using Java and Java EE.
- Solid ability to prioritise tasks and deliver high-quality solutions on time and within budget.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate across geographically dispersed teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience driving change and continuous business improvement.
- Relevant IT qualifications, experience in software upgrades, and an understanding of government legislative, policy and ICT frameworks.
- NV1 clearance or higher.
