Classification: Based on Experience

The Mental Health Counsellor provides high‑quality, person‑centred mental health assessment and therapeutic intervention, with a primary focus on residents in Residential Aged Care (RAC).

The role adopts a systemic model of care, working collaboratively with residents, families, RAC staff, GPs, and other health professionals to support emotional wellbeing, behavioural management, and mental health outcomes. The position operates within an integrated multidisciplinary team and may also provide flexible support across the lifespan as service demand requires.

About the program

The Lower Hume Primary Mental Health Program (LHPMH) delivers locally based, integrated mental health services across the Shires of Mitchell,



Murrindindi and Mansfield. The program is funded by Murray PHN, with Yea and District Memorial Hospital (YDMH) as fund holder and provider of clinical governance.
