About Element Engineering

Element Engineering Australia is setting a new standard for innovation, precision, and speed — right here in Perth.

We develop rugged IoT devices, advanced industrial equipment, and next-generation prototypes for clients across mining, energy, medical, and consumer tech industries.

Our unique approach combines high-end mechanical and electronic engineering with fully in-house manufacturing capability — making us faster, more flexible, and more creative than traditional product developers.

In 2024, we were proudly recognised as one of Australia's Top 50 Most Innovative Manufacturers by @AuManufacturing — a testament to our commitment to pushing boundaries and delivering world-class solutions.

Every team member — from engineering to workshop — plays a key role in pushing the limits of what we can achieve.

As we continue to grow rapidly, we are seeking a talented, energetic CNC Machinist to join our high-performing team in Malaga.

Some of Our Projects

- Rugged IoT sensor platforms built for the harshest environments

- Custom robotic devices for the mining and industrial sectors

- Bespoke tooling and pre-production prototyping for world-first innovations

- Injection mould tooling development for consumer-grade products

We work fast, iterate quickly, and manufacture smarter. We aren't just a machine shop — we're building the future.

The Role

We are looking for a CNC Machinist who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to work alongside world-class engineers. Above all, we hire people who are personable: easy to work with, and good with engineers and colleagues.

This role is also open to mechanical engineers who want to specialise in precision manufacturing and move into machining.

This is an AI augmented role. Our team works alongside AI agents in Element's own BusMin system, so the agents take on routine work and you spend more of your time on the machines.

You will:

- Program and operate DMG Mori DMU 50 Gen 3 (5-Axis Machining Centre) and DMG Mori NLX2500Y/700 Y-Axis CNC Turning Centre with Live Tooling

- Create prototype and pre-production parts for client and internal projects

- Program new parts quickly and efficiently using MasterCAM

- Work closely with Engineers to influence part designs,

suggest improvements, and solve manufacturing challenges

- Sometimes do design work as well

- Assist in pre-production runs and low-volume manufacturing jobs

- Contribute to workshop improvements and help define best practices

- Manage and deliver your machining tasks within agreed timelines and deadlines, maintaining a strong commitment to the success of projects

- Develop accurate and realistic machining time estimates based on drawings or CAD models, and collaborate with engineers on quoting and project planning

- Enjoy adaptable working hours agreed with the Team Leader

- Be empowered to suggest and enact improvements across tooling, processes, and workflows — if it makes sense, we implement it! Use our current processes and extend them in sustainable ways.

About You

You are a highly motivated, energetic team player who brings passion and pace to your work.

You will have:

- Being personable comes first: people enjoy working with you and you are easy to talk to. Capability comes right behind it.

- Trade Qualification in CNC Machining, Toolmaking, or Diploma of Engineering with strong hands-on machining experience

- Proven experience operating 5-Axis Milling Machines (preferably Heidenhain controlled) and CNC Lathes (Fanuc or Mitsubishi controls)

- Ability to work quick, accurately, and proactively in a high-mix, low-volume prototyping setting

- Strong teamwork skills — you value being part of a team where your ideas and feedback matter

- Good fitness level and physical capability to meet the demands of workshop work

- Strong analytical skills to assess job requirements and provide dependable time estimations

- A strong commitment to meeting timelines and delivering results to support the growth and momentum of the business

- A willingness to help build a manufacturing culture that moves as fast as our engineering team

Desirable but not essential:

- MasterCAM programming skills. We can train you.

- Familiarity with SolidWorks for simple fixture or jig design

- Experience in prototype tooling and injection mould making

Why Join Element Engineering?

- Career Growth — opportunities to lead and build the manufacturing team

- Work Alongside AI — our team works with AI agents in Element's own BusMin system, so you spend less time on routine work and more on the machines

- World-Class Equipment — DMG Mori, Thermally Compensated Machining, Y-Axis Live Tooling

- Industry Recognition — Proudly named one of Australia's Top 50 Most Innovative Manufacturers in 2024
