About the team –

The Architecture Branch helps shape how technology, data and digital capabilities are designed and evolved across the Australian Sports Commission (ASC). We work across the organisation to translate strategic and business priorities into secure, scalable and sustainable solutions, providing leadership across enterprise and solution architecture, data and AI, technology standards, design and governance. As part of the Technology and Digital Enablement Group, our team works on significant organisation-wide initiatives including enterprise platforms, data and analytics, integration, digital services and emerging technologies.

About the role –

The Data Architect will provide strategic and technical leadership across enterprise data management at the Australian Sports Commission (ASC), with a particular focus on the Enterprise Data Platform (EDP). The role will lead the design and implementation of the EDP, including the foundational ERP data cleansing and migration solution and the platform’s subsequent consolidation, standardisation and extension. Working closely with the data stewards and owners across the organisation, the role will help strengthen data governance and broader data management capability across the ASC.

The role will also contribute to the development of data management strategies, policies, processes and guidelines, and produce key architecture and design documentation to support informed decision-making and delivery. This includes assessing existing and emerging technologies for continued use, uplift or adoption within the EDP, while mentoring ASC data professionals and helping build sustainable organisational capability.

As a Data Architect, you will:

- Lead large-scale data cleansing, migration and transformation initiatives, including complex modernisation programs.
- Develop enterprise data strategies, governance-aligned architectures and data quality management frameworks.
- Design and implement scalable, secure and cost-effective cloud-based data platforms that support analytics, reporting, integration and operational workloads.
- Architect and deliver complex ETL, ELT and hybrid data pipelines for high-volume data movement, integration and assurance.
- Implement reference data management,

stewardship and governance capabilities to support trusted business measures and outcomes.
- Develop architecture roadmaps, manage technical backlogs, estimate complex initiatives and provide technical leadership across governance forums.
- Engage effectively with stakeholders, communicate clearly with executive, business and technical audiences, mentor data professionals and uplift organisational data capability.

About you –

We are looking for a motivated individual with a passion for leveraging data to enable organisational outcomes, strong strategic and analytical thinking capabilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively across business and technology teams to shape and support the ASC's evolving data and digital landscape.

The successful candidate will have:

- Tertiary qualifications and/or previous experience architecting data solutions and platforms.
- Proven experience leading complex data cleansing, migration and transformation initiatives, particularly ERP modernisation programs.
- Knowledge of data modelling and storage optimisation for enterprise reporting, business intelligence and analytics environments.
- Demonstrated experience leading or contributing to governance forums, producing architecture artefacts and ensuring compliance with architectural standards.
- Proven ability to engage executives, business leaders, data owners and technical teams to drive enterprise-wide outcomes.
- Strong understanding of security, data classification, privacy and information management requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and support staff by sharing knowledge, providing practical guidance, and uplifting team capability in data architecture, governance, tools and delivery practices to build sustainable organisational expertise.
