About the role

SM&LJ; Reading is seeking experienced Truck Drivers to join our growing team in Stawell, VIC. This is a full-time position offering a rewarding career in road transport. The duty is driving Road train tippers within Vic & some interstate trips with general freight you will be responsible for safely operating heavy vehicles, managing freight deliveries, and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and safety. This role is integral to our operations, ensuring goods are transported efficiently and reliably across our logistics network.

What you'll be doing

- Operating heavy vehicles safely and efficiently in compliance with all traffic laws and company policies

- Planning and executing delivery routes to meet customer deadlines and optimise fuel efficiency

- Conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and report any mechanical issues

- Loading, unloading, and securing cargo according to weight distribution guidelines and safety regulations

- Maintaining accurate logbooks, delivery documentation, and digital records of hours worked and distances travelled

- Communicating with dispatch and customers to provide updates on delivery status and address any concerns

- Adhering to fatigue management and rest break requirements to ensure safe driving practices

- Maintaining a professional appearance and representing SM&LJ; Reading positively with customers and the public

What we're looking for

- Current Heavy MC drivers driver's licence with a clean driving record

- Minimum 2 years' experience operating heavy vehicles in commercial road transport

- Current National Police Checking Service (NPCC) clearance or willingness to obtain one

- Knowledge of road safety regulations, fatigue management laws,



and Australian Road Rules

- Strong ability to read maps, plan routes, and use GPS navigation systems

- Excellent communication and customer service skills

- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual handling tasks safely

- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong commitment to safety culture

- Preferred: experience with chain of responsibility requirements, experience with automated or manual transmissions, and knowledge of freight industry best practices
