Mediclinic Clayton is seeking an endorsed Nurse Practitioner with AOD experience to join our established general practice in Melbourne’s southeast. This opportunity may suit someone seeking additional clinical days alongside an existing role, or a dedicated part-time position.

About the role

You will provide compassionate, evidence-based care to people experiencing substance dependence, with a focus on opioid dependence treatment, harm reduction and continuity of care.

Your responsibilities will include:

· Undertaking advanced clinical assessments and developing individualised treatment plans.

· Prescribing and monitoring medication-assisted treatment for opioid dependence, including methadone and buprenorphine, within your scope of practice and applicable prescribing requirements.

· Providing long-acting injectable buprenorphine treatment where appropriately trained and authorised.

· Delivering harm reduction advice, overdose prevention education and support for patients and, where appropriate, their families.

· Identifying co-existing physical and mental health needs and coordinating appropriate care.





· Collaborating with GPs, community pharmacists and external services.

· Maintaining accurate clinical records and contributing to quality improvement and service reporting.

About you

We are looking for someone who brings:

· Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with NMBA endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner.

· Relevant clinical experience in AOD care, including opioid dependence treatment.

· Relevant MATOD training and Victorian approval to prescribe methadone, or the ability to obtain these before undertaking methadone prescribing duties.

· A compassionate, non-judgmental and trauma-informed approach.

· Confidence practising within your clinical scope and collaborating with other health professionals.

· Strong communication and clinical documentation skills.

· Australian work rights and willingness to complete relevant pre-employment checks.

Highly regarded, but not essential

· Experience with long-acting injectable buprenorphine.

· Experience in general practice or community health.

· Additional postgraduate qualifications in AOD, addiction nursing or mental health.

· Familiarity with Best Practice software—an advantage, but not essential.
