We’re looking for a creative, keen and reliable Apprentice Cake Decorator to start their apprenticeship with us in February 2027. You’ll learn on the job alongside our experienced pastry and decorating team while completing a nationally recognised Certificate III in Cake and Pastry. There’s no travelling to TAFE campuses in Wollongong or Sydney. Your TAFE trainer comes to our premises, and we set aside time during your shifts so you can keep making progress on your training. No experience is needed. We’re after someone with a good eye, steady hands and a real willingness to learn the trade properly.
Key Responsibilities
- Learning to decorate celebration, birthday and ordered cakes to customer specifications
- Preparing icings, buttercreams, ganache, fondant and fillings
- Finishing cabinet products such as cupcakes, tarts, slices and seasonal specials
- Piping, writing and detailing work
- Assisting with cake, pastry and sweet production as needed
- Following food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures
- Keeping a clean, organised workspace and equipment
- Supporting the broader kitchen team during busy periods, including Christmas, Easter and school holidays
