Lead electrical engineering function across the full life cycle of Wind, Solar, and BESS projects

Hays Energy has partnered with a leading Australian renewable energy developer, owner and operator with a significant portfolio of utility-scale wind, solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. With a strong pipeline of projects across Australia, the business is continuing to expand its internal engineering capabilities and is seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to take technical ownership across the life cycle of major renewable energy developments.

Your new role

This is a senior technical position where you will lead electrical engineering activities across multiple renewable energy projects, from early-stage development and due diligence through design, procurement, construction, commissioning and operations.
You will:

- Lead the electrical scope across utility-scale wind, solar PV and BESS projects.

- Take ownership of electrical scope, budget, programme, HSE, risk and quality.

- Provide technical leadership across the electrical balance of plant.

- Provide expertise across protection, control, earthing and power-quality requirements.

- Review concept designs, SLDs, cable layouts, technical specifications and contractor design submissions and more!

What you'll need to succeed

- 7 + years' electrical engineering experience, ideally within Australian utility-scale renewable energy.

- Experience across wind, solar PV and/or BESS projects.

- Strong knowledge of MV/HV power systems.





- Exposure to projects through both development and construction phases.

- Experience managing electrical packages from design through to construction and handover.

- Practical site and contractor management experience.

- Experience reviewing technical documentation, contractor designs and engineering deliverables.

- Valuable understanding of Australian engineering standards and grid-connected infrastructure.

- Experience with power systems software such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory would be advantageous.

- A tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
