About the Role

We are seeking a qualified and experienced General Accountant to join our finance team on a full-time basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the company's financial reporting, accounting compliance, budgeting and financial management activities. Working closely with the Senior Accountant and other members of the finance team, the role will contribute to maintaining accurate financial records, strengthening internal financial controls and supporting informed business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and analyse monthly financial statements, management reports, accounting journals and variance reports to monitor business performance.

Assist in preparing annual budgets, financial forecasts and cash flow projections to support operational planning and business decision-making.

- Ensure compliance with relevant Australian accounting standards, taxation legislation and regulatory requirements, including GST and BAS reporting.

- Support the Senior Accountant in monitoring trust account transactions, reconciliations and reporting to ensure compliance with applicable NSW Fair Trading requirements.

- Liaise with external auditors,



tax agents and other financial professionals in relation to annual financial statements, taxation matters and audit requirements.

- Maintain accurate financial records and accounting documentation using appropriate accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel functions.

- Review existing accounting procedures and recommend improvements to enhance financial reporting accuracy, operational efficiency and internal controls.

- Analyse financial information and provide relevant insights and recommendations to management regarding financial performance and business operations.

- Collaborate with other members of the finance team and provide qualified guidance and support to junior accounting and bookkeeping staff where required.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

- A Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Accounting, Finance or a closely related discipline.

- A minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional accounting experience gained after completion of the relevant tertiary qualification.

- Demonstrated practical experience in financial accounting, preparation of financial statements, budgeting, financial analysis and regulatory compliance.

- Sound understanding of Australian accounting standards, taxation requirements, GST/BAS reporting and internal financial controls.

- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, including financial analysis and reporting functions.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet reporting deadlines.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a professional team.

- Progress towards CA or CPA professional accreditation will be highly regarded.
