About the Role

As an Import Specialist, you will manage end-to-end Ocean & Air shipments while acting as a subject matter expert within the team. You will be responsible for ensuring shipments are handled efficiently, compliantly, and with a strong customer focus, while supporting continuous improvement and mentoring less experienced team members.

This role requires a solid understanding of international freight forwarding processes, stakeholder management, commercial awareness, and ideally proficiency in CargoWise.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage end-to-end Air & Ocean import shipments

- Coordinate shipments with overseas offices, carriers, transport providers, customs brokers, and customers

- Monitor shipment milestones and proactively manage exceptions

- Process shipment registrations and maintain accurate operational records within CargoWise

- Ensure all documentation is accurate, compliant, and completed within required timeframes

- Manage customer communications, including shipment updates, delays, customs holds, and delivery arrangements

- Review and approve costing, accruals,



and invoicing to ensure financial accuracy

- Drive high standards of data integrity, operational compliance, and customer service

- Support the onboarding and implementation of new customers

- Assist with SOP development, process improvements, and operational best practice initiatives

- Generate and analyse KPI reports to identify trends and opportunities for improvement

- Provide guidance and support to junior team members and contribute to a positive team culture

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

- Minimum 2 years' experience in Import Freight Forwarding

- Strong working knowledge of international ocean freight operations

- Ideally experience using CargoWise

- Excellent understanding of shipping line, transport, customs, and supply chain processes

- Strong customer service and stakeholder management skills

- Exceptional attention to detail and organisational ability

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively

- Sound commercial awareness with experience in job costing, accruals, and profitability management

- Strong communication skills and a proactive problem-solving approach

- A collaborative mindset and willingness to support and mentor others
