About Us:
Infinity Steel Fixers Pty Ltd, trading as Infinity Group Victoria, is a rapidly growing Australian construction and trade services company based in Victoria. Established in July 2024, the company has experienced strong and consistent growth, evolving from a specialist steel reinforcement contractor into a multi-trade construction group servicing Tier-2, Tier-3 and boutique builders across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
We operate five service divisions - Steel Fixing, Precast Concrete, Post-Tensioning, Formwork, and Carpentry - supported by a dedicated office in Geelong (leased until March 2028 + 2-year option) and an active project workforce. The business has secured a quarterly revenue base more than $1 million, an active client portfolio of established Victorian builders, and is financially viable, fully compliant with Australian employment and tax obligations.
Due to continued growth and an increasing volume of structural and reinforcement contracts, we are seeking a qualified and experienced Welder (First Class) to join our team on a full-time permanent basis.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, your duties will include:
· Carry out structural and reinforcement welding (MIG and Stick/MMAW) to join and fabricate reo cages, starter bars, embedded plates, brackets and other steel components, both on site and in the yard, in accordance with AS/NZS 1554.
· Read and interpret construction and reinforcement drawings, specifications, bar schedules, bending schedules and weld symbols to determine job requirements, select appropriate welding process, settings, and plan materials and work sequence.
· Select, clean and prepare steel stock and reinforcement bar, mark out sections according to drawings,
and cut using oxy-acetylene flame-cutting torches, grinders and metal-cutting machines.
· Shape and bend reinforcement bar and steel sections according to plans and job requirements, using bar benders, hand tools and machine tools.
· Align parts to be joined using hand tools, clamps and measuring instruments, tack-weld them, then complete final welds to required size, quality and tolerance under Australian welding standards.
· Examine welds for bead width, penetration, precision and defects using visual inspection and measuring tools; clean and smooth welds by grinding and chiselling and rectify any defects to meet QA requirements.
· Repair damaged or cracked steel components, formwork hardware and existing welds on site and in the yard.
· Carry out associated steel-fixing tasks as part of integrated reinforcement operations: position, place and tie reinforcement bar and mesh in slabs, footings, walls and columns according to drawings, using bar chairs and spacers to achieve specified concrete cover, and check fixed reinforcement before builder and engineer pre-pour inspections.
· Supervise and lead the welding and steel-fixing team on site: allocate daily tasks, demonstrate correct welding and fixing methods, monitor quality, productivity and safety compliance.
· Coordinate with builders' site managers and concrete and formwork crews on site access, deliveries, crane lifts and pour schedules; run pre-start and toolbox talks, follow SWMS and hot-work permits, and maintain daily site records, welding logs and safety documentation.
