About the role

A unique hybrid position combining professional relationship building with clinical exposure in a busy ophthalmology subspecialty practice in East Melbourne. You will act as the key liaison between the practice and Melbourne optometrists, building robust, trusted referral relationships and educating optometrist colleagues about the streamlined, cost-transparent pathway. You will spend time in clinic working alongside subspecialist ophthalmologists including Vitreoretinal surgeons, gaining exposure to medical retina pathology, OCT interpretation, and the patient journey.

Key responsibilities

- Act as the key liaison between the practice and Melbourne optometrists, building strong, trusted referral relationships and educating optometrist colleagues about the streamlined, cost-transparent pathway

- Develop and implement a marketing and engagement strategy to grow appropriate referrals

- Spend time in clinic working alongside subspecialist ophthalmologists including Vitreoretinal surgeons, gaining exposure to medical retina pathology, OCT interpretation, and the patient journey





- Support the smooth operation of the new pathway and contribute ideas to improve the patient and referrer experience

About you

- AHPRA-registered Optometrist with clinical experience

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable representing a specialist service to peers

- Organised, proactive and commercially aware, with the ability to work independently and manage your own diary and outreach activities

- Genuine interest in collaborative eye care and improving access for patients who need timely intravitreal treatment

- Based in or able to regularly travel across Melbourne

- Driver's licence
