Property/Generalist Lawyer | Burnie, Tasmania

Your own conveyancing practice area, in a boutique firm that's growing

Our client is a boutique law firm with offices interstate and is opening in Burnie.

We are looking for a Lawyer with a background property practitioner to lead conveyancing and property work in North West Tasmania.

We are open to practitioners who are generalists, have skills in other areas of law and/or who would like to work in other areas of law.

The firm is personal and doesn't run on layers of hierarchy. Clients deal directly with the person handling their matter, and practitioners get the support of an established multi-office firm. You'll have real ownership of the property practice locally, and room to grow it as well as exposure to other areas of law including family, criminal and commercial.

About the role
Run a residential and commercial conveyancing file from instruction through to settlement
Run files in other areas such as family law, civil law and criminal law
Handle sales, purchases, transfers, subdivisions, leases and refinances
Prepare and review contracts, vendor disclosure and settlement documents
Manage electronic settlements through PEXA

Build relationships with local agents, brokers, lenders and referrers in the North West
Help establish and grow the firm's presence in Burnie and the surrounding region

About you
You're an admitted lawyer with a current practising certificate
You have solid experience in property and conveyancing. Tasmanian experience is highly regarded
Experience in other areas of law will be looked at favourably
You're confident running your own matters with limited supervision
You're organised and accurate, and you can manage deadlines across a busy file
You communicate clearly and want to build a local client base

What's on offer
A market-competitive salary that reflects your experience, plus superannuation
Autonomy, and the chance to shape a new office from the start
Backing from an established firm with offices in Sydney and Melbourne
Supportive leadership and a team-oriented culture
Long-term growth opportunities as the firm expands
