Senior Java Engineer - Java, Cloud & AI Transformation

This is an chance for a Senior Java Engineer to play a key role in a major application transformation, helping modernise and replatform a suite of established cloud-based software onto a modern architecture.

It's a hands-on engineering role, but the opportunity goes well beyond delivery. You'll have the scope to influence architecture, lead technical initiatives and shape how AI is adopted across the engineering team.

Lead features, technical initiatives and proof-of-concepts
Influence architecture and design decisions across the transformation
Help replatform existing applications onto a contemporary cloud-native stack
Drive improvements across resilience, observability and operational excellence
Remain hands-on while mentoring engineers and raising technical standards

A major focus of this role is helping the team move from simply using AI tools to engineering effectively with AI. The team is already adopting AI-assisted development, but they want a Senior Engineer who can bring ideas, challenge existing approaches and establish best practices for AI-enabled software engineering.

What we’re looking for
Deep Java and Spring Boot expertise
Strong microservices and REST API design experience
Architecture and system design capability
Cloud experience across GCP, AWS or multi-cloud environments
Strong understanding of resilience and observability
Experience leading features, POCs or technical initiatives
Robust automated testing and CI/CD practices
Ability to mentor engineers and influence engineering standards
Genuine experience or interest in AI-assisted engineering

About you
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science or Equivalent
