Ripe Sassafras is looking for experienced chefs to join our kitchen team.

Based in the heart of the Dandenong Ranges, Ripe has been welcoming locals and visitors for more than 25 years. Our food centres on quality à la carte breakfasts and lunches, seasonal specials, house‑made cakes and thoughtful options for different dietary needs.

The work

Working closely with the management, FOH and kitchen teams, you’ll prepare and deliver consistently good food in a busy breakfast and lunch service.

You’ll take care with flavour,



presentation and preparation, help keep the kitchen organised, and maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety. There’s also room to bring ideas, work creatively with seasonal produce and contribute to what comes next at Ripe.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for experienced chefs with sound cooking skills, valuable judgement and a genuine commitment to quality.

You’ll be someone who:
Takes pride in getting the details right, even when service gets busy
Brings a positive attitude and treats colleagues with respect
Communicates clearly and works well with both the kitchen and front‑of‑house teams
Is reliable, organised and ready to take initiative
Enjoys contributing ideas and learning from others
Has experience in a busy commercial kitchen, relevant cookery qualifications and current Australian working rights

Experience matters, but so does how you approach the work. If you have strong skills, enthusiasm and the right attitude, we’d like to hear from you—even if you’re earlier in your chef career.
