The Role
Reporting to the Manager Setting and Regulatory Services, you will protect public safety, environmental quality and community amenity across a broad portfolio, including parking and abandoned vehicles, animal management, local nuisance and litter, By-Laws and fire prevention. You will also support environmental health, building and planning compliance within relevant delegations.

Responsibilities

- Undertake inspections, investigate complaints and alleged offences, gather evidence and take appropriate enforcement action
- Interpret and apply legislation, By-Laws, policies and procedures
- Manage compliance across parking, animal management, nuisance, litter and fire prevention
- Prepare investigation reports, notices, briefs and regulatory documentation
- Liaise with residents, businesses, Council staff and government agencies, and guide colleagues on compliance matters

About You





- Experience in compliance, regulatory services or investigations
- Ability to interpret and apply legislation with sound judgement
- Strong investigation, report-writing and record-keeping skills
- Excellent communication, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills
- Independence, initiative and the ability to manage competing priorities

A Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services) and Fire Prevention Officer certification, or willingness to obtain them, will be highly regarded, as will local government experience.
