Data Test Engineer | Databricks, SQL & Automation

Your new role
As a Data Test Engineer, you will help ensure the quality, reliability and performance of modern enterprise data solutions. This is a hands-on testing role with a strong focus on Databricks, SQL Server, SSIS, Python and test automation.
Working across BAU and project delivery in an Agile environment, you will:

Develop and maintain comprehensive test strategies, test plans and test cases.
Test end-to-end data solutions across Databricks, SQL Server and SSIS, validating data quality, transformation logic, reconciliation, orchestration, security and performance.
Develop and maintain automated tests for data platforms and pipelines using Python and SQL.
Build and maintain robust test automation frameworks using tools such as Selenium.
Perform exploratory, API, performance and load testing using tools such as Postman, JMeter and LoadRunner.
Test Databricks notebooks, jobs, workflows, Delta tables, data pipelines and data quality controls.
Validate complex SQL queries, stored procedures and ETL/ELT outcomes using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
Test SSIS packages and SQL Server-based integrations, including transformations, dependencies, error handling and data quality outcomes.
Support continuous integration and continuous testing through CI/CD environments such as Azure DevOps or GitLab CI.
Use AI/ML and Large Language Model (LLM) tools to assist with test planning, test case and test data generation,



log analysis, anomaly detection and analysis of test results.
Produce testing metrics and reports and collaborate with cross-functional technology and project teams.
What you'll need to succeed
You will bring a strong background in software and data testing, with hands-on experience across modern data platforms and automated testing.
Ideally, you will have:

Strong data testing and ETL/ELT testing experience.
Hands-on testing experience with Databricks, including notebooks, jobs, workflows, Delta tables and data pipelines.
Advanced SQL Server/SSMS skills, including complex queries, stored procedures, data reconciliation and validation.
Strong experience testing SSIS packages and SQL Server-based integrations.
Strong Python scripting skills for test automation, data validation and reusable testing utilities.
Experience developing or maintaining automated testing frameworks, including Selenium.
Experience with API testing, ideally Postman.
Experience with performance and load testing, using tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner.
Familiarity with CI/CD and continuous testing, including Azure DevOps or GitLab CI.
Exposure to using AI/ML or LLM tools within testing activities.
Experience working within an Agile delivery setting.

You must be an Australian Citizen and be eligible to obtain a Baseline Security Clearance.
What you'll get in return
This is a 12-month contract based in Sydney, offering hybrid working with a minimum 50% office attendance.
Day rate : $750 + Super
