Great Project Management delivers outcomes. Here, those outcomes help an organisation change lives.
Our client is a large, established not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting people and communities experiencing disadvantage, vulnerability and hardship.
Behind every frontline service are the systems, processes and people that make its work possible. Improving how the organisation operates helps its teams deliver essential services to those who need them most.
An opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager to join its Project Management Office (PMO), delivering a varied portfolio of business, technology and operational initiatives.
The Opportunity
You'll manage multiple projects across business systems, process improvement and operational change, taking ownership from planning through to implementation and closure.
Working closely with a Senior Project Manager, you'll engage Project Sponsors, operational teams, IT and external vendors to coordinate delivery, resolve challenges and achieve agreed outcomes.
The organisation has recently introduced a Project Governance Framework. You'll help embed it through practical delivery, applying the right level of structure without unnecessary bureaucracy.
Technology will feature in many projects, but this isn't a technical Project Management role. You'll need the curiosity to understand unfamiliar systems and the judgement to involve the right specialists.
What You'll Be Doing
- Manage project plans, schedules, budgets, risks, issues and dependencies.
- Coordinate stakeholders, resources and vendors to keep projects progressing.
- Identify delivery obstacles early and work with your Senior Project Manager to resolve them.
- Support stakeholder engagement, implementation readiness and adoption where required.
- Apply project governance pragmatically and contribute to improving delivery practices.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for a capable Project Manager with strong fundamentals, practical delivery experience and the ambition to continue developing.
You'll ideally bring:
- Approximately 2–5 years of hands-on Project Management experience, potentially following earlier project coordination experience.
- Experience managing project scope, timelines, budgets, risks and stakeholders through to implementation.
- An understanding of Change Management principles and their contribution to successful delivery.
- Confidence engaging senior leaders, operational teams and external partners.
- The ability to manage competing priorities, solve problems and keep projects moving.
- Curiosity, initiative, sound judgement and a cooperative approach.
Experience working within a not-for-profit or community services organisation would be advantageous, but isn't essential.
Your approach matters as much as your experience.
You'll be someone who takes ownership, asks good questions, challenges constructively and knows when to seek support.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- Make a meaningful difference: Deliver projects that help improve essential services for vulnerable people and communities.
- Broaden your experience: Gain exposure to different projects, business functions and delivery challenges.
- Develop your career: Build your capability within a supportive PMO while taking ownership of your own projects.
- Influence project delivery: Contribute ideas as the organisation continues strengthening its governance and delivery practices.
Remuneration & Working Arrangements
- Salary: $140,000–$150,000 base + superannuation.
- Benefits: Eligible not-for-profit salary packaging, with an estimated annual tax benefit of approximately $10,000, depending on individual eligibility and circumstances.
- Employment: Initial 12-month fixed-term contract, with potential for extension or permanency (not guaranteed).
- Location: Sydney.
- Hybrid working: Broadly three days in the office and two days remotely, with greater onsite attendance encouraged initially.
- Travel: Occasional visits to service locations, primarily across NSW.
