Texco Contracting

Alexandria

At Texco, we take great pride in our contribution to Australia's industrial property landscape. We believe in rewarding hard work, nurturing relationships, and fostering cutting-edge thinking within a collaborative workplace and project environment.

We are proud to have attracted some of the best talent in the industry and are continuously seeking individuals who share our passion for industrial and commercial construction, thrive on challenges, and are motivated to learn and grow within a high-performing team.

As our NSW project portfolio continues to expand, we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Cadet to join our growing Project Delivery team in Alexandria.

Ideally suited to a second-year university student studying Construction Management or a related discipline, this opportunity offers hands-on industry experience alongside your studies, exposure to large-scale industrial construction projects and the support of experienced professionals who are invested in your development.

The opportunity on offer

As a Cadet, you'll work closely with our Project Managers and Contract Administrators, gaining practical experience across the commercial and operational aspects of delivering industrial construction projects.

From procurement and subcontract administration through to cost management, forecasting and project reporting, you'll develop an understanding of the construction lifecycle and the responsibilities involved in successfully delivering a project.

This is an opportunity to apply your university studies in a practical environment, build your technical capability and establish a strong foundation for a long-term career in Contract Administration and Project Management.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Assist with procurement activities, including preparing tender packages, reviewing subcontractor submissions and supporting subcontract administration;

- Support the preparation and management of subcontracts, purchase orders, variations and other commercial documentation;

- Assist with project cost tracking, financial reporting, forecasting and progress claims;

- Maintain accurate project records,

drawing registers and documentation using systems such as Aconex, Procore and Jobpac;

- Attend project and design meetings, assisting with meeting minutes, action registers and coordination activities;

- Liaise with internal project teams, subcontractors and consultants to support effective communication and project delivery;

- Gain exposure to construction sites, developing an understanding of project operations, quality management and workplace health and safety; and

- Support the broader Project Delivery team with day-to-day activities while progressively building your technical knowledge and commercial understanding.

A bit about you

You'll be someone who is curious, motivated and genuinely interested in building a career in construction. You enjoy working collaboratively, aren't afraid to ask questions and are willing to step outside your comfort zone to learn something new.

We don't expect you to know everything. What matters most is your attitude, willingness to learn and ability to take initiative as you develop your skills and confidence.

To be successful, you will also demonstrate:

- Currently undertaking your first or second year of a tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering or a related discipline;

- A genuine interest in the construction industry, particularly industrial projects;

- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to balance university commitments with practical work experience;

- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and team-oriented approach;

- Confidence using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook;

- A proactive attitude, willingness to take ownership of your work and enthusiasm to learn from experienced industry professionals; and

- The ability to adapt, manage competing priorities and approach challenges with a positive mindset.

Previous construction industry experience is advantageous but not essential. We're more interested in finding someone with the right attitude, a strong work ethic and the ambition to develop a successful career in construction.

What makes working with us unique

We have a vibrant, inclusive team culture, and that is all down to the people who work with us: a team of talented, like-minded, self-starters who are intellectually curious and passionate about the work they do.

At Texco, we recognise the importance of investing in emerging talent and creating meaningful opportunities for the next generation of construction professionals.

As a Cadet, you'll be supported by experienced industry professionals, encouraged to contribute ideas and provided with opportunities to progressively take on greater responsibility as your skills develop.

Other benefits we offer include:

- Hands-on experience across a diverse portfolio of large-scale industrial construction projects;

- Practical exposure to Contract Administration, Project Management and the broader construction lifecycle;

- Mentoring, ongoing training and genuine opportunities for career development and progression;

- The opportunity to develop your industry experience alongside your university studies;

- Incentive and reward programs to recognise loyalty, performance, values alignment and outstanding achievements;

- A collaborative, supportive and high-performing team environment;

- Fun social activities and team events throughout the year; and

- Health and wellbeing initiatives to help you perform at your best, both personally and professionally.
