Downer is seeking a Commercial Director to lead commercial and risk management across our WA, SA & NT Transport & Infrastructure businesses.

The position can be based in either Perth or Adelaide

As the Commercial Director, you will play a pivotal role in leading commercial and risk management across a diverse portfolio of projects. Reporting to the GM Commercial & Risk, you will be responsible for establishing strategic processes that drive performance, improvement, and development. This role demands a proactive approach to commercial reporting, governance, and financial oversight, ensuring clarity and visibility of commercial performance to influence decision-making and results. You will partner with operational GMs to deliver project and portfolio outcomes.

Key responsibilities

- Ensure accurate and timely commercial reporting aligned with Downer standards.
- Lead commercial reviews for bids and support negotiation of contracts.
- Provide strategic advice on project delivery and risk management.
- Establish commercial plans and registers for new projects.
- Monitor business performance and implement improvement initiatives.
- Build robust relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Promote Zero Harm and sustainability across all business decisions.

What you'll bring

- Tertiary qualifications in business, law, finance,



or a related field (postgraduate desirable).
- 5+ years' experience in a senior commercial role within construction or infrastructure.
- Proven leadership in driving commercial excellence and change.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- High emotional intelligence, resilience, and a collaborative mindset.
- A passion for mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
