We are recruiting a Payroll Officer for a long-established, ASX-listed Australian mining and resources company with a head office in the Brisbane CBD.
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract. You’ll report to the Payroll Manager and work as part of an experienced payroll team.

The role

You’ll process accurate, on-time pays for a large workforce that includes site-based employees on rosters covered by awards and enterprise agreements. Your day-to-day will include:

- Processing end-to-end pay runs, from timesheet and roster checks through to STP lodgement.
- Interpreting awards and EBAs to apply shift penalties, allowances and overtime correctly.
- Setting up new starters, processing terminations and managing leave balances.
- Answering employee and manager payroll queries by phone and email.
- Reconciling payroll, superannuation and payroll tax, and preparing reports for Finance.
- Working with HR and Finance to fix issues at the source and improve payroll processes.

About you

- Experience as a Payroll Officer, ideally with a large, site-based or rostered workforce.
- Confidence reading and applying awards and EBAs.
- Experience with time and attendance systems. Exposure to a large payroll system is also useful.
- Working knowledge of Fair Work,



ATO and superannuation obligations.
- Care for accuracy and proactive approach to problem solving.
