Production & Service Manager | Mechanical Engineering & Industrial Equipment

We are seeking an energetic, commercially astute Production & Service Manager to take end-to-end operational ownership of our specialised Gearbox Assembly and Service Facility in Girraween. In this pivotal leadership role, you will champion production scheduling, service and overhaul operations, quality systems, and safety while leading a dedicated team of technicians, machinists, and support staff.

Key responsibilities

- Oversee daily manufacturing, gearbox assembly, refurbishment, and field service workflows to ensure peak resource utilisation and on-time delivery
- Lead and mentor production supervisors, fitters, machinists, and service technicians, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous development
- Act as the operational escalation point for key industrial clients, preparing service quotations, repair scopes, and technical root-cause recommendations
- Embed zero-harm safety practices and maintain rigorous quality control across every gearbox assembly, repair, and overhaul project
- Manage the departmental operating budget,



labour efficiency, and throughput, identifying lean and process optimisation initiatives to eliminate waste

About you

- Recognised mechanical trade qualification (Fitting & Machining, Mechanical Fitting, Heavy Maintenance, or related discipline)
- 5+ years of operational leadership experience managing a manufacturing facility, engineering workshop, or heavy equipment service centre
- Deep technical familiarity with mechanical power transmission systems, industrial gearboxes, rotating machinery, and lubrication/hydraulic setups
- Robust experience with ERP planning systems, capacity planning, cost control, and workshop KPI tracking (throughput, warranty rates, DIFOT)
- An engaging communicator who sets high standards, resolves bottlenecks quickly, and leads from the front
- Desirable: Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Operations Management, or Business
- Desirable: Formal training in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Project Management
