Trade Qualified Mechanical Fitter – Gearbox Assembly

Location: Pinkenba, Brisbane
Pay Rate: $51.40 per hour + super
Hours: Day shift, 5:30am – 2:00pm, with early finishes on Fridays
Employment Type: Casual
Pre-Employment Requirements: Medical, including drug and alcohol screening

About the Role

Accurate Recruitment is seeking an experienced Trade Qualified Mechanical Fitter to join an established heavy engineering team in Pinkenba.

You will be responsible for the precision assembly and reconditioning of industrial exciter gearboxes used across mining, quarrying and other heavy industrial applications.

This role is ideal for a hands‑on fitter who takes pride in quality workmanship, enjoys working with complex mechanical equipment and understands the importance of accuracy, safety and meeting engineering specifications.

Key Responsibilities

- Assemble and recondition industrial exciter gearboxes to manufacturer specifications
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Use precision measuring tools, including micrometers, dial gauges and torque wrenches
- Ensure correct alignment, tolerances, torque settings and sealing
- Complete quality inspections and assembly documentation
- Maintain a clean,



organised and safe work area
- Participate in toolbox talks and continuous improvement initiatives

What We’re Looking For

- Trade Qualification in Mechanical Engineering (Fitting and Turning or equivalent)
- Minimum 3 years' experience in mechanical fitting within a heavy industrial environment
- Experience with gearbox assembly, rotating machinery or mining equipment highly regarded
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to work to engineering specifications and tight tolerances
- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety
- Reliable, punctual and able to work independently and within a team
- Own reliable transport to and from Pinkenba
