Lane8 Consulting is a Perth-based specialist consultancy, founded in 2022 by practising business analysts. We place experienced people into complex enterprise environments and present them to clients as Lane8 consultants, not as names on a recruiter’s list.

The role

You would be the PeopleSoft Financials engineer for a large Western Australian university, working in office in Perth within its IT division and reporting to a senior manager in the core systems team.

The platform is PeopleSoft FSCM 9.2 on PeopleTools 8.62, Oracle database, hosted in Azure. It is the university’s primary finance system and integrates with its HR, enterprise performance management and student systems, among others.

This is the finance platform’s engineering capability, not a seat in a large PeopleSoft team. The in-house team is capable across the wider estate but carries no PeopleSoft depth, so this role owns the application end to end: requirements, build, integration, reporting, incident resolution and documentation. There are no inherited internal development standards, which means you bring your own and apply industry practice.

What you would work on

- Enhancements and customisations in Application Designer, PeopleCode, Application Engine and Application Packages
- Integrations through Integration Broker,



web services and component interfaces
- Reporting in SQR, BI/XML Publisher and PS Query
- Production incident investigation and root cause analysis for finance users
- SQL data fixes and conversion scripts, and resolving Process Scheduler failures
- Technical design documentation, code review, and remediation of issues raised by code scans
- Requirements elicitation directly with finance business stakeholders

What we are looking for

- Substantial hands-on PeopleSoft development experience across Application Designer, PeopleCode, Application Engine and Application Packages
- Hands-on PeopleSoft Financials (FSCM) experience
- Demonstrated experience supporting and enhancing a production PeopleSoft application in a complex enterprise environment
- Integration experience using Integration Broker and web services
- Strong SQL, including data fixes and conversion scripts
- Reporting development in SQR, BI/XML Publisher or PS Query
- The ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions without an escalation path above you
- Clear written and verbal communication, and the confidence to work directly with finance stakeholders
- Relevant tertiary qualification,

Highly desirable

- PeopleSoft HCM experience alongside Financials
- Cloud-hosted PeopleSoft, particularly on Azure
- Microsoft Entra authentication integration
- PeopleTools upgrades and customisation retrofit
- ServiceNow as the ITSM platform
- Higher education sector experience

Nice to have, not deal breakers

Fluid UI development · Oracle Linux and UNIX shell scripting · data masking and migration · ITIL processes · experience as the sole engineer on a platform

What we need from you

- Full Australian working rights, without the need for visa sponsorship
- Based in Perth and able to work on-site across the Perth metropolitan area. We will consider applicants from interstate only where there is a clear and demonstrated commitment to relocating to Perth, at your own cost, before starting
- Willingness to obtain a National Police Clearance before commencement
- Comfortable with occasional after-hours and weekend work around release and maintenance windows
