Want to learn how ecommerce and retail growth really works, from the people doing it? Join DotCollective as our SDR and start the conversations that become our next big client partnerships.
About DotCollective
We build, grow and fix commerce operations for brands that take commerce seriously, B2B and
D2C alike.
We're a Shopify Platinum Partner and the #1 Shopify POS agency in ANZ, managing $8B+ in client GMV across 130+ brands in four countries, including Kathmandu, Rip Curl, Brandbank, DISSH, Space Furniture, Brand Collective and Essity.
We work differently from most agencies. Instead of selling hours and open-ended retainers, we offer sixteen programs across Build, Grow and Fix, each with a defined scope, measurable outcomes and a clear end date. No lock-in, ever.
Human craft. Machine pace. We didn't bolt AI onto an agency; we rebuilt the agency around it. Strategic and design thinking from people, delivery powered by AI. It's how we deliver enterprise-quality work to a startup, a $3M brand and a $500M enterprise in the same week.
The role
You'll be the start of our new-business engine. You'll find, research and qualify merchants across Australia and New Zealand, spot the moments when a business is ready for change, and turn them into thoughtful, personalised outreach that earns a conversation. Then you'll book quality meetings for our Growth Manager and hand them over with everything they need.
This is an entry-level role with real support behind it. You'll work closely with the Growth team and learn how commerce, Shopify and retail buying decisions get made.
What you'll do
- Prospect recent business through email, phone, LinkedIn, events and campaigns, and follow up inbound, event and partner leads
- Research merchants to understand their platform, challenges and readiness to engage, and identify the right decision-makers
- Reach out with personalised messages and sequences tailored to each merchant, from growing brands to enterprise and omnichannel retailers
- Use AI tools to speed up research and personalisation, while making sure every message is accurate and on-brand
- Qualify and nurture leads, then hand them to the Growth team with clear context and next steps
- Keep our CRM accurate and up to date
What success looks like
- A steady, predictable flow of qualified meetings for the Growth Managers, month after month.
- Growth Managers trust your handovers: the meeting is real, the context is clear and nothing needs re-qualifying.
- Outreach that feels researched and relevant, not templated, and reflects well on the DotCollective brand.
- Progress targeted accounts through research, outreach and relationship development, converting priority prospects into qualified sales conversations. CRM data you can run the pipeline review from without chasing.
- Visible growth in commercial confidence, product knowledge and call quality over your first 6 to 12 months.
What you'll bring
- 0 to 2 years in a sales, business development, SDR/BDR or customer-facing role.
- Agency, SaaS or ecommerce experience is a plus.
- Genuine curiosity about how retail and ecommerce businesses work and grow.
- Confidence on the phone and in writing, with the resilience to handle rejection and keep going.
- Strong research skills: you can quickly work out what a business does, how it sells and where it's likely stuck.
- Organised and disciplined with activity, follow-up and CRM hygiene.
- Comfort using AI tools day to day, and the judgement to know when output needs a human edit.
- Coachable, competitive and motivated by targets.
Nice to have: familiarity with Shopify, Shopify POS or ecommerce platforms, LinkedIn Sales
Navigator, or a sales engagement tool.
What we offer
- Hands-on coaching, weekly call reviews and a clear development path in sales
- Team Culture Days. Every three months we fly the team into Melbourne to work together for the day, then head out for dinner and drinks on us. Travel, flights and accommodation are covered.
- A day off for your birthday. That’s on top of your of annual leave.
- Professional development. We put a budget into training every year. That can go towards courses, conferences or dedicated learning time, plus regular Lunch & Learns with our platform partners.
- Generous paid parental leave. Primary carers get 14 weeks at full pay (or 28 weeks at half pay) and secondary carers get 6 weeks (or 12 at half pay).
Who you'll work with
You'll report to our Growth Manager - Outbound & Partners and work alongside our Growth, Marketing, Delivery, Product and Retail teams.
