We think experienced consultants should spend more time talking to clients, understanding technology and making technical judgements, rather than writing reports and chasing financial information.

That's why we've built a delivery model where our consultants are supported by technical writers, accountants, AI and established systems.

You'll lead the client engagement, with a technical writer and accountant supporting the delivery of each claim.

Your focus is on the work where your experience and judgement really matter.

What you'll be doing

You'll take ownership of R&D; Tax engagements from the initial meeting through to lodgement.

That includes

- Leading technical interviews with founders, engineers, software developers and R&D; teams.
- Understanding what businesses are developing and assessing their activities against the R&D; Tax Incentive requirements.
- Communicating with everyone from software developers and engineers through to CEOs and CFOs.
- Managing and reviewing the work of your technical writer and accountant.
- Making technical eligibility assessments and identifying compliance risks.
- Building long-term client relationships and helping businesses understand their R&D; claims.
- Managing the overall engagement, with senior support available for complex technical matters.

You'll be responsible for getting the work done, but you won't be expected to do everything yourself. And you won't need to find your own clients. We have an established marketing and sales process generating new enquiries.

Who we're looking for

Ideally, you're already working in R&D; Tax at a Big Four, mid-tier or specialist consultancy, with at least 3–5 years of Australian R&D; Tax experience.

You'll need

- A strong understanding of the Australian R&D; Tax Incentive and its eligibility requirements.
- Experience managing R&D; Tax claims and dealing with AusIndustry.
- The confidence to lead technical interviews and challenge clients when necessary.
- The ability to explain complex technical and tax matters in plain English.
- Experience reviewing technical documentation and managing the work of others.
- Good judgement and the ability to manage client engagements independently.

We're particularly interested in people who genuinely enjoy talking to clients.

You might be discussing the technical challenges of a software project with a developer in the morning and explaining the R&D; claim to their CFO in the afternoon.

You need to be comfortable with both.
