Position Title - SQL Developer

Role Purpose:

To provide technical expertise in database development and SQL programming to support business applications, reporting, and data management needs. The role focuses on building efficient and reliable database solutions, maintaining data quality, and contributing to continuous improvement of systems and processes.

Key Accountabilities

- Design, build and maintain database views and stored procedures in PostgreSQL and Amazon Redshift.
- Write and optimise complex SQL queries to support data analysis needs.
- Tune the performance of views, stored procedures and queries, including reviewing execution plans and applying database specific optimisation (distribution/sort keys, indexes).
- Collaborate with stakeholders and other internal teams to understand and document development requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Support development solutions across both real-time and batch processing environments.




- Test and validate and deliverables to ensure data accuracy, quality, and integrity.
- Document views, stored procedures, and associated logic clearly for ongoing support and handover.
- Manage assigned work and deliver to agreed timeframes with minimal supervision.

Technical Expertise

- Advanced SQL capability, including complex joins, CTEs, window functions and subqueries.
- Demonstrated experience developing views and stored procedures.
- Ability to work independently and manage deliverables with minimal supervision.
- Robust communication skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Essential Skills:

- Experience with Amazon Redshift or PostgreSQL.
- Understanding of differences between PostgreSQL and Redshift (e.g. supported syntax and procedural language behaviour).
- Familiarity with version control and agile delivery practices.
