About our client
Our client is part of a privately held global group founded in 1907 and has operated in Australia since 1983. It designs, manufactures and supplies belt conveyor products and services that improve conveyor uptime, productivity and safety for the mining, industrial and agricultural markets across Australia, Current Zealand, Papua New Guinea and the Pacific Islands.
Its Australian head office and manufacturing site is in Norwest, Sydney, where it also makes products for the wider global group. The business employs 81 people in Australia and is bringing a new manufacturing facility online in Perth, Western Australia. Leaders are encouraged to contribute across the business, and change and improvement are welcomed.
About the opportunity
This is a new role in a finance team of three, reporting to the Finance Manager, and a planned succession to the Finance Manager role. You will learn all finance aspects of the business side by side with the Finance Manager, who has 11 years with the company. The role starts hands-on and then develops into month end reporting and management accounting.
In this role, you will:
- Run the weekly payroll end to end without support within two months, from clock-on and clock-off data through to payment of employees, taxes and superannuation
- Run accounts receivable, accounts payable and employee expense management without support within three months, including the monthly BAS and payroll tax returns
- Run the month end process within six to twelve months, including journals, balance sheet reconciliations and the internal management reports
- Take on product costing: analysis of product margins, labour utilisation, production order variances and department spend to identify business improvements
You will work in Infor LN, Dayforce and Concur, and with production, engineering, sales and the leadership team. Alongside the day to day,
you will support projects including B Corp certification and setting up the finance side of the new Western Australian manufacturing facility, with travel between Sydney and Perth. There are no direct reports at the start.
About you
You are a qualified accountant who wants to step up to a Finance Manager role, with an interest in how a manufacturing business works beyond compliance and reporting.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A degree in Accounting, Commerce or Finance
- CPA or CA qualification (preferred)
- 5 or more years of experience after your degree, with at least 2 years in each role
- Strong financial skills across the full cycle, from processing through to monthly reporting
- Experience in a manufacturing business, or at least exposure to costing concepts
- ERP experience (Infor LN or Baan is an advantage)
- Experience with payroll, employee expense management and local statutory reporting such as BAS and payroll tax
- A proactive, commercial approach as a business partner, and the ability to work independently
- A driver’s licence and willingness to travel between Sydney and Perth
- Willingness to complete a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol testing
What’s on offer
A planned path to the Finance Manager role. The work is hands-on across financial and management accounting, with freedom to improve processes and to contribute to leadership discussions across the business.
The role is Monday to Friday, 8.00 am to 4.30 pm, plus reasonable additional hours. It is based in Norwest, Sydney, or in Canning Vale, Perth, for the right person. A candidate based in Perth does not need to relocate.
How to apply
Submit your CV outlining your experience and suitability for the role. Applications are welcome from candidates based locally or interstate. Your application will be handled according to our privacy policy: https://11recruitment.com.au/privacy-policy.
