Experienced, detail-focused wills and estates lawyer with 5 years' PAE for boutique legal firm specialising in estate matters located in Midland, WA

- Build specialist expertise across a broad and interesting succession practice
- Join a boutique wills & estates firm with direct access to the Principal
- Take on meaningful, varied files with structure, training and support

Predictive Recruitment Partners has been engaged by Bechelet & Co to find an experienced, detail-focused wills and estates lawyer who takes genuine pride in getting the work right, values clear process and structure, and is looking to build deep expertise in succession law.

About Bechelet & Co:

Bechelet & Co is a boutique law firm specialising exclusively in wills and estates, based in Midland – the gateway to the Swan Valley and the Perth Hills.

The firm acts across the full spectrum of succession law, from estate planning and probate through to complex family provision claims and contested estates. Bechelet & Co is known for delivering specialised, empathetic legal guidance with genuine personalisation, and for the quality and precision of its work.

This is a close-knit, professionally driven practice where every matter is treated with care, and where the team is united by a shared commitment to protecting what matters most to their clients.

About the role:

This is an opportunity for a lawyer with approximately 5 years’ post-admission experience to take on a varied and interesting practice across estate planning, estate administration and estate litigation, with direct client contact and responsibility for your own matters.

You will work across a broad range of succession law matters, including:

- Wills and complex estate planning
- Enduring Powers of Attorney and Enduring Powers of Guardianship
- Probate and Letters of Administration
- Administration of Deceased Estates
- Family Provision Act claims and other contested estate matters
- Guardianship and administration matters before the State Administrative Tribunal
- General succession law advice

You will work closely with the firm’s Principal and have the support of the wider team as you build genuine expertise in this area, with a clear framework and reporting relationships to work within.

This position suits someone who takes work seriously, follows established process carefully, and finds genuine satisfaction in producing precise, correct work for clients navigating some of the most sensitive moments of their lives.

About you:

You’re a conscientious wills and estates lawyer who takes real pride in the accuracy and quality of your work. You are diligent, thorough, and disciplined, with a strong sense of duty to get things right the first time.

You are reserved and formal in your professional style, communicating factually and sincerely. You are cautious with risk, careful in how you approach decisions, and you gather the information you need before acting – while being comfortable making calls within your own knowledge.

You work best with clearly defined responsibilities and reporting lines, and you value a stable, skilled environment where accountability and consistency are the norm. You are cooperative and supportive of the people around you, willing to help, and happy to look to the firm’s Principal for direction in areas outside your capability.

You are genuinely interested in developing deep, specialist knowledge in succession law, and you appreciate the ongoing training and support that will help you build that expertise and confidence over time.

Key Traits for Success in This Role:

Precise and Thorough – You hold yourself to high standards of accuracy and leave nothing to chance

Diligent and Process-Driven – You follow established guidelines and procedures, and expect the same of others

Reserved and Professional – You communicate factually, formally and sincerely, especially with clients in sensitive circumstances

Cooperative and Supportive – You are willing and helpful, and work well within a small, close-knit team

What you bring to the role:

- Approximately 5 years’ post-admission experience, ideally with solid experience in wills and estates
- Confidence managing your own files and communicating directly with clients
- Strong drafting, analytical and organisational skills
- The ability to approach sensitive and sometimes complex family circumstances with professionalism and empathy
- Excellent attention to detail and a genuinely thorough approach to your work
- A collaborative mindset and enjoyment of working within a small team

- A genuine interest in developing your career in succession law

What we can provide:

Bechelet & Co offers the opportunity to work on interesting and increasingly complex succession matters without the competing demands of a general-practice environment. You will have genuine responsibility and autonomy, direct access to the Principal, and the support and training needed to continue building specialist expertise in this area of law.

For the right person, there is significant scope to grow with the firm and play an important role in its continued development.

What you must have to apply for this role:

- Admission to practise as a lawyer in Western Australia
- Approximately 5 years’ post-admission experience, ideally in wills and estates
- Strong drafting, analytical and organisational skills
- Excellent attention to detail and sound file management skills
- Strong client-facing communication skills, including the ability to handle sensitive matters with empathy and professionalism
- Full working rights to work in Australia

Experience in contested estates, Family Provision Act matters or SAT proceedings would be particularly valued, although candidates whose experience has primarily been in estate planning and administration are also encouraged to apply.

Additional Information:

Eligibility: This position is available to permanent Australian residents or applicants with a work visa that enables them to work in Australia without restriction.

Diversity and Inclusion: We are an equal-opportunity employer and encourage applications from women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
