Alana Hersh Sewing Studio is looking for enthusiastic and reliable Sewing Instructors to join our growing team.

We have a full summer of school holiday workshops ahead and we are looking for several capable sewists to help us deliver creative, welcoming and enjoyable classes.

There may also be ongoing opportunities in our after-school children's and adult sewing classes.

This position could suit university students, fashion or design students, teachers, recent graduates and experienced home sewists looking for rewarding creative work.

Formal teaching qualifications are not essential. Your sewing ability, creativity, reliability and ability to connect with students matter most.

About the opportunities

Depending on your skills and experience, you may:

- Lead children's sewing classes or school holiday workshops
- Assist in children's sewing classes or school holiday workshops
- Instruct in selected adult classes
- Demonstrate sewing techniques
- Help students understand instructions and troubleshoot problems
- Support students working at different levels
- Prepare materials and organise workstations




- Help keep the classroom secure, tidy and positive

Some applicants may start as an assistant and move into leading classes as their confidence and experience grow.

About you

We would love to hear from you if you:

- Have strong practical sewing skills
- Are confident using domestic sewing machines
- Are patient, friendly and encouraging
- Enjoy working with children and young people
- Can explain techniques clearly, step by step
- Are reliable and comfortable working in a team
- Stay calm and helpful in a busy classroom
- Are available for the summer school holiday period

Teaching or youth-work experience is helpful but not essential for assistant positions.

Applicants must hold, or be willing and eligible to obtain, a Working with Children Check before starting child-related work.
