Explorers Early Learning
Melbourne
Explorers Early Learning is a family-owned and operated business with more than 21 early learning centres across Melbourne. Our beautiful, purpose-built centres and enriching learning environments reflect our commitment to delivering exceptional care and education. As we continue to grow, we're investing in technology, AI and data to make a real difference to how our business operates.
We're looking for an Product Engineer (AI & Data) to take ownership of building and evolving our internal Team Hub platform, developing AI powered solutions and managing the data infrastructure that supports our growing organisation.
Reporting to our Chief Transformation Officer, you'll have the opportunity to work autonomously, influence technical direction and turn real business challenges into practical, scalable solutions. This is a permanent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys building products end to end and using AI to deliver smarter, faster outcomes.
What you will do
- Design, build, test and release new Team Hub features using AI coding tools, shaped by feedback from the people who use them.
- Build and run Snowflake pipelines and integrations between our systems, and keep data accurate, documented and secure.
- Plan and manage a 12 to 18 month roadmap for Team Hub and data with the Chief Transformation Officer, and adjust it as priorities change.
- Help manage our Snowflake environment day to day with the Chief Transformation Officer, including user access and roles, security settings, connector tools and cost monitoring.
- Run regular check-ins with the teams and leaders who use the products you work on, negotiate priorities and explain trade-offs plainly.
- Make sound architecture and design choices with the Chief Transformation Officer,
contribute to good engineering practice through code reviews, monitor what's running and fix issues quickly. Keep clear documentation so others can support what you build.
- Handle staff, family and child data with care, in line with privacy, consent and access requirements.
What you'll bring:
- A degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 3+ years in software engineering, building and running web applications and data systems in production
- Hands on, everyday use of AI coding tools to build, test and ship
- Strong SQL and experience with a cloud data warehouse, ideally Snowflake
- Experience designing data pipelines and integrations between business systems
- A track record of delivering reports people rely on to make decisions
- Experience delivering products end to end with little supervision, and planning roadmaps across several quarters
- Explore and implement AI-powered features, automations and intelligent workflows that improve how our teams access information and complete everyday tasks.
- Solid knowledge of security, privacy and data quality practices
- Strong relationship skills, high attention to detail and the ability to prioritise competing demands
- A current Working with Children Check and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
Bonus points for:
- TypeScript, React or Next.js, and Postgres or Supabase
- Building AI features or agents, such as plain-language questions over data
- Experience in education, early learning or another people-focused service business
