Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach have set us apart for 80 years, guiding how we shape a better world The Role
This role is focused on the planning, hydraulic modelling and technical delivery of water and wastewater networks across Queensland. The successful candidate will provide capable, largely independent modelling input to projects while working closely with fellow senior engineers, project managers and multidisciplinary teams.
The position will support a strong pipeline of network planning and modelling work, including sewer network modelling, water supply modelling, servicing strategies, network optimisation, pressure and flow assessments, pump station and pipeline studies, and surge assessment where relevant. The role will also contribute to concept and detailed design by translating modelling outcomes into practical civil infrastructure solutions.
The Opportunity
- Lead or independently deliver defined water and wastewater network modelling tasks, with minor oversight from senior technical leaders.
- Develop, update, calibrate, verify and interrogate hydraulic network models and document assumptions, limitations and recommendations.
- Undertake network capacity, servicing, operational, option and staging assessments to support planning and design decisions.
- Take responsibility for the technical quality and accuracy of your work and contribute to checking and quality assurance of modelling outputs prepared by others.
- Coordinate modelling inputs and outputs with civil, mechanical, process, digital and other multidisciplinary disciplines.
- Prepare clear technical reports, model documentation, drawings, maps and client-ready presentations.
- Support project managers with scope, programme, fee and resource inputs for modelling workstreams, and deliver agreed tasks to programme and budget.
- Engage with clients and internal stakeholders in technical meetings and workshops and communicate modelling findings and recommendations clearly.
- Guide and mentor junior engineers and modellers, including task briefing, technical support and review of work.
- Apply RPEQ professional obligations and relevant Arup quality, safety and technical assurance processes to engineering services delivered in Queensland – highly desired.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative and inclusive QLD Water team culture.
