Role: Solution Architect – Observability

Location: Melbourne/Sydney

We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect to support the development and execution of the Enterprise Observability Strategy and contribute to the observability architecture within the Simplify Infrastructure initiative.

The role will help define current and target-state architecture, establish enterprise observability patterns and standards, rationalise monitoring capabilities, and ensure observability is embedded into infrastructure and platform architecture. The architect will work across application, infrastructure, SRE, security and architecture teams to drive a consistent, scalable and vendor-agnostic observability approach.

Experience

10+ years across Observability, Monitoring, SRE, Infrastructure and/or Solution Architecture, with demonstrated experience designing enterprise-scale monitoring and observability solutions.

Mandatory Skills

- Enterprise Observability Architecture – Strong experience designing observability and monitoring architectures across complex enterprise environments.
- Observability Technologies – Hands-on architectural knowledge of platforms such as Splunk, Dynatrace, OpenTelemetry and similar enterprise monitoring solutions.
- Infrastructure & Cloud Architecture – Strong understanding of cloud, hybrid infrastructure, containers, Kubernetes, networks and enterprise platforms.




- SRE & Observability Practices – Experience with telemetry, metrics, logs, traces, alerting, SLI/SLOs and service reliability practices.
- Strategy & Target-State Architecture – Ability to assess current-state capabilities and develop target-state architectures, principles, patterns and technology roadmaps.
- Stakeholder & Architecture Engagement – Ability to work across enterprise architecture, infrastructure, application, SRE, security and engineering teams.

Valuable to Have Skills

- Experience with observability tool rationalisation and consolidation, including migration and adoption strategies.
- Knowledge of OpenTelemetry architecture and telemetry pipelines.
- Experience designing cloud-native and platform engineering observability patterns.
- Understanding of AIOps, event management and AI-assisted operations.
- Experience with observability governance, maturity models and control frameworks.
- Commercial awareness of observability licensing, consumption optimisation and cost management.

Positioning

This role should ideally be positioned as an architecture role rather than an observability tool administrator, with a strong emphasis on enterprise standards, target-state design, simplification and enabling infrastructure/application teams to adopt consistent observability patterns.
