About Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced NEWS/CBC Engineer to join our client's Managed Services team in Sydney, supporting critical telecommunications infrastructure for the National Emergency Warning System (NEWS) and Cell Broadcast Centre (CBC) platform.

This is a hands-on Level 2 technical support and operations role, responsible for ensuring platform availability, performance, incident resolution and service delivery in a mission-critical environment.

You will work closely with customers, vendors, third-party providers and engineering teams to maintain the reliability and operational efficiency of the NEWS/CBC platforms.

Key Responsibilities

· Provide Level 2 technical support and operational governance for NEWS and CBC platforms.

· Manage end-to-end faults and incident management, ensuring resolution within agreed SLAs and OLAs.

· Act as a key technical point of contact for customers and manage escalated operational issues.

· Monitor platform availability, capacity and performance.

· Coordinate hardware/software upgrades, maintenance and vendor support.

· Ensure data retention capabilities and accuracy of NEWS campaigns and CBC alerts.

· Develop and maintain operational dashboards, databases and automation tools.

· Drive continuous service improvement, problem management and knowledge management.

· Participate in a 24x7 on-call support roster.

· Collaborate with network operations, engineering and project delivery teams.

Skills & Experience

We are looking for candidates with:

· 5+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure, Network Engineering or Systems Administration.

· Strong experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 6/7).

· Hands-on experience with HPE Servers and virtualised environments.





· Experience with Cisco switches, Check Point firewalls and F5 Load Balancers.

· Knowledge of IP networking, firewall rule administration and network troubleshooting.

· Database experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL and/or Elasticsearch.

· Scripting experience using Bash, Python or Perl.

· Experience in network operations, fault management, incident management and SLA-driven environments.

· Strong stakeholder management and customer-facing communication skills.

Desirable Experience

· Exposure to telecommunications Core Network Operations.

· Experience supporting mission-critical platforms or managed services environments.

· Familiarity with Cell Broadcast Centre (CBC), SMS-CB or National Emergency Warning System (NEWS).

· Experience with operational automation, monitoring and service improvement initiatives.
