Finance Manager

Join an innovative Adelaide biotechnology company in a hands-on finance role, supporting the CFO with financial operations, reporting and commercial insights as the business continues to grow.

About the role

We're looking for a commercially astute Finance Manager to join our team.

Reporting to the CFO, you'll manage BiomeBank's day-to-day finance operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective financial controls and reliable information to support business decisions.

You'll combine strong technical accounting skills with sound commercial judgement, contributing financial analysis and forecasting while supporting the ongoing development of our finance systems and processes.

The role will include:

- Running accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, expense claims and the integrity of the Xero ledger.
- Leading the month-end close and preparing accurate, timely management accounts and financial reports.
- Maintaining cash flow forecasts, monitoring runway and burn rate, and identifying emerging financial risks.
- Supporting budgeting, financial modelling and forecasting, providing meaningful variance analysis and insights to the CFO.
- Preparing financial information for board reporting, investor updates and business performance monitoring.
- Managing tax and statutory compliance, including BAS, GST, PAYG, payroll tax and FBT, and processing payroll and superannuation through Single Touch Payroll.
- Coordinating R&D; Tax Incentive claims and government grants, working with external accountants and advisers.
- Supporting fundraising activities, including financial modelling, due diligence and data room preparation.
- Contributing to the improvement of financial systems, processes and internal controls as the business grows.

What you'll bring to the position:

- A degree in accounting, finance or commerce, with a CPA or CA ANZ qualification (or nearing completion).
- At least five years' experience in finance or accounting, including at least two years in a management accounting or Finance Manager role.




- Strong hands-on experience across end-to-end accounting, financial reporting, payroll and statutory compliance, ideally within a smaller business or growing organisation.
- Sound financial modelling, budgeting and cash flow forecasting capabilities, with strong Excel or Google Sheets skills.
- Working knowledge of Australian taxation and reporting obligations, including GST, PAYG, superannuation, FBT and Single Touch Payroll.
- Proficiency in cloud accounting software such as Xero or MYOB.
- Strong analytical skills and commercial judgement, with the ability to interpret financial information, identify issues and provide practical insights.
- A cooperative, approachable working style, with the ability to communicate financial information clearly to colleagues across different functions.
- A proactive, organised and adaptable approach, with a high level of integrity and attention to detail.

Experience in a venture-backed start-up or scale-up, fundraising, R&D; Tax Incentive claims or government grants would be highly regarded.
