Mackay Base Hospital is seeking a Clinical Nurse Grade 6 to join its Mental Health and Alcohol & Other Drugs (AODS) team on a six-week contract from 9 November to 20 December 2026. Based in Mackay, this role offers the chance to deliver specialist assessment, intervention, and case management for clients navigating alcohol and other drug-related challenges. Working Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, you'll be part of a community-focused service that combines clinical expertise with meaningful aftercare support.

- Specialist AODS assessment and intervention work in a dedicated mental health unit
- Six-week contract role with structured hours and clear scope for clinical impact
- Community-based case management and aftercare coordination for vulnerable clients

Preferred Requirements





- Demonstrated experience in AODS assessment and treatment delivery
- Current driver's licence (essential for community-based work)
- Robust mental health nursing background with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
- Proficiency in clinical documentation and electronic systems, ideally including ieMR
- Sound understanding of mental health legislation and duty of care in a regulated environment

Preferred Qualifications

- Registered Nurse qualification with current AHPRA registration
- Counselling and assessment qualifications or demonstrated equivalent experience
- Familiarity with the Mental Health Act 2016 and CHIMA database systems
