About the role

N & P Heavy Mechanical Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our team in Yatala, QLD. This is a full time position where you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing heavy vehicles, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. As a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing mechanical issues, performing repairs, and conducting routine maintenance on a variety of heavy vehicles. Your expertise will directly impact the reliability and performance of our workshop and contribute to the success of our operations.

Key responsibilities

- Diagnose mechanical faults and defects in heavy vehicles using diagnostic equipment and technical knowledge

- Perform comprehensive repairs and maintenance on engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension, and other vehicle components

- Conduct routine servicing including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid top-ups, and system checks

- Inspect vehicles for safety compliance and prepare them for roadworthiness certification

- Document work completed, parts used, and time spent on each job in accordance with workshop procedures

- Communicate effectively with workshop supervisors and customers regarding repair status and vehicle condition

- Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to health and safety standards

- Assist in training and mentoring junior mechanics where appropriate

- Keep up to date with the latest heavy vehicle mechanical technology and repair techniques

What we're looking for

- Current Heavy Vehicle Mechanic licence or equivalent qualification recognised in Australia

- Minimum of 3–5 years' experience working as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic in a professional workshop or similar environment

- Strong knowledge of heavy vehicle systems including engines, drivetrains, hydraulics, electrical systems, and braking systems

- Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and workshop tools





- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work methodically and accurately

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with supervisors, colleagues, and customers

- A commitment to health and safety practices and compliance with workplace procedures

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Current driver's licence
