About the role
We are seeking enthusiastic and friendly Junior Sales Assistants to join our team on a casual basis at our Castletown store in Townsville, QLD 4810. As a Junior Sales Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service whilst supporting the daily operations of our bakery. This is a flexible, casual position ideal for individuals looking to gain valuable retail experience in a fast-paced, customer-focused setting. You will work both on the shop floor and contribute to maintaining our store's welcoming atmosphere, ensuring every customer receives the warm, professional service Bakers Delight is known for.
Key responsibilities
- Serve customers with a friendly and professional manner, taking orders and processing transactions accurately
- Maintain knowledge of our product range and provide recommendations to customers
- Keep the shop floor clean, tidy and well-stocked throughout your shift
- Handle cash and card payments with accuracy and integrity
- Assist in preparing and packaging baked goods for customers
- Follow food safety and hygiene protocols at all times
- Support the team during peak trading hours
- Respond positively to customer enquiries and resolve any concerns professionally
- Assist with opening and closing procedures as required
What we're looking for
- Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred but not essential
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for helping customers
- Reliability and punctuality, with the ability to work flexibly around casual shifts
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work as part of a team and support colleagues
- Basic numeracy skills for handling cash and processing transactions
- Food safety awareness and commitment to maintaining high hygiene standards
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and public holidays
- Availability for the 2026 Christmas season is a must.
