About the role

Meridan Community Church is seeking enthusiastic and versatile Cafe Team members to join MCC Cafe in Meridan Plains, QLD.

We’re looking for people who share MCC’s Christian values and have a genuine heart for people.

Casual and part time Cook, Barista, Supervisor and All Rounder positions currently available.

On offer is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic cafe environment operating 7 days a week.

You will be based at our Meridan Plains location and will play a vital role in delivering exceptional service and quality food and beverages to our community.

This role is essential to creating a welcoming atmosphere and ensuring every customer leaves with a positive experience.

Key responsibilities

Barista:

- Preparing and serving high-quality espresso-based coffees, specialty beverages and other drinks to customer specifications

- Operating and maintaining cafe equipment, including espresso machines and grinders, to ensure consistency and quality

Cook:

- Preparing fresh food items, including breakfasts, light meals and snacks, following recipes and food safety standards

- Managing the cooking station, ensuring timely preparation of orders and maintaining high standards of food presentation

All Rounder:

- Taking customer orders accurately and processing payments through the point-of-sale system

- Providing friendly and attentive customer service, building rapport with regulars and new customers alike

- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the cafe, kitchen and service areas

Supervisor:

- Restocking supplies and managing inventory of coffee, food and beverage items

- Supporting team members during busy periods and assisting with various cafe tasks as required

- Adhering to food safety regulations, allergen protocols and workplace health and safety requirements

What we're looking for

- Barista certification or demonstrated experience in preparing specialty coffee drinks





- Food preparation experience and knowledge of kitchen operations

- Strong customer service skills with a genuine passion for hospitality

- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced cafe environment

- Flexibility and willingness to perform a range of tasks

- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

- Food safety certification or willingness to obtain one

- Reliable, punctual and professional approach to work

- Physical capability to stand for extended periods and lift items safely

- Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one, given the community centre setting

- Experience in hospitality or cafe environments is preferred but not essential for enthusiastic candidates.
