Lawn Mowing Offsider — Four-Day Working Week
1st Class Lawn Care
Toowoomba, Queensland
Casual with the opportunity to become permanent
38 ordinary hours across Monday to Thursday
Above-award pay, bonuses and optional Friday overtime
Three reasons to apply
- Work your full ordinary hours over four days and enjoy a three-day weekend, or work the Friday at overtime rate.
- Receive practical training with professional mowing and specialist turf equipment.
- Build a long-term career with a transparent pathway toward Crew Leader or specialist lawn-care work.
A better outdoor job with room to progress
Would you enjoy working outdoors, using quality commercial equipment and seeing the result of your work at the end of every property?
1st Class Lawn Care is expanding and looking for a reliable Lawn Mowing Offsider to join one of our professional two-person crews in Toowoomba.
You will work alongside an experienced Crew Leader rather than being sent out alone. We provide structured procedures, property notes, practical training and ongoing support to help you become confident with our equipment and service standards.
This position suits someone who wants consistent hours, a three-day weekend or regular overtime on a Friday and the opportunity to develop useful skills instead of remaining in an entry-level labouring role.
What you will receive
- A four-day working week: Work 38 ordinary hours from Monday to Thursday, with Friday available as a catchup for rain/sick days.
- Three-day weekends: Fridays remain available for personal time or optional additional work.
- Optional paid overtime: Friday renovation work is available during the Spring, Summer and Autumn growing season.
- Above-award casual pay: Your starting rate will reflect your skills and relevant experience.
- Performance bonuses: Additional rewards may apply when team and performance standards are achieved.
- Consistent work: Join an established business with regular weekly and fortnightly mowing routes.
- Training and development: Learn commercial mowing, cylinder mowing and specialist lawn-care processes.
- Quality equipment: Work with maintained commercial mowers and professional turf equipment.
- Team support: Work alongside an experienced Crew Leader with clear job instructions.
- Career progression: Develop toward a Crew Leader, lawn-care technician or specialist turf role.
- Potential permanent position: The role may become permanent after a successful trial period.
The work
Your regular duties will include:
- Premium scheduled lawn mowing.
- Edging, line trimming and final blow-downs.
- Loading and checking the equipment required for each day.
- Reading SortScape schedules and property notes before attending jobs.
- Taking clear job photographs and recording relevant information.
- Keeping customer properties, keys, remotes and access details secure.
- Cleaning, refuelling and preparing equipment.
- Assisting with lawn renovations, dethatching and core aeration.
- Helping with topdressing, lawn levelling and turf installation.
- Supporting fertilising, weed-treatment and lawn-health work after training.
We maintain premium residential lawns and selected larger turf sites. The role is focused on premium lawn mowing and specialist lawn care rather than general gardening or one-off mowing work.
Attention to detail is essential
We service high-quality Toowoomba properties where the finish matters.
You must be able to:
- Read and follow written property notes.
- Notice access instructions, mowing heights and equipment requirements.
- Load the correct equipment before leaving the depot.
- Complete work consistently rather than rushing through properties.
- Check the finished lawn, edges, gates and hard surfaces before leaving.
- Report mistakes, damage or incomplete work honestly and promptly.
To demonstrate that you have read the advertisement carefully, include the words “cylinder mowing” in your application and briefly explain why attention to detail matters in lawn care. Applications that do not follow this instruction may not progress.
Essential requirements
You must:
- Hold a current Australian manual driver licence.
- Have reliable transport to our Toowoomba depot.
- Have Australian working rights.
- Be reliable and ready to commence work at the scheduled starting time.
- Be able to perform active outdoor work throughout the day.
- Be comfortable working in Toowoomba’s changing weather.
- Be able to follow written instructions and work effectively in a two-person crew.
- Treat customers, their homes and their security information professionally.
- Be willing to complete a National Police Check.
- Be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
- Be willing to participate in workplace drug and alcohol testing in accordance with company policy.
Employment will be subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks.
Experience
Previous experience in professional mowing, turf care, landscaping, farming, machinery operation, labouring or a trade would be useful but is not essential.
We are more interested in finding someone who:
- Turns up reliably.
- Pays attention to details.
- Takes pride in the finished result.
- Looks after equipment.
- Accepts instruction and feedback.
- Wants to learn and develop.
- Is interested in a stable, long-term position.
Experience operating commercial mowers, line trimmers, edgers, blowers or towing trailers will be viewed favourably.
