Description

Vault Cloud is an Australian sovereign cloud provider with 14 years of experience delivering secure, scalable and high-performance cloud capability. Operating at national hyperscale, we provide the infrastructure to securely manage critical data and demanding workloads. Our experience spans some of Australia’s most security-sensitive environments within Government and Critical Infrastructure, giving us deep expertise in sovereign cloud and secure data management.

As organisations increasingly adopt AI, Vault Cloud is extending this capability to enable secure, high-performance intelligence at scale. Our platform combines secure full cloud services, open architecture and high-performance AI inferencing, supported by a valued partner ecosystem. Together, these capabilities give organisations the capacity, flexibility and performance to run critical workloads while maintaining sovereignty, security and control of their data.

We are hunting for a L2 Operations Engineer (Security) to guarantee the resilience, integrity, and airtight defense of our infrastructure environments. Your primary purpose is to ensure secure, zero-fail operational execution, acting as the ultimate gatekeeper for system stability through disciplined incident response, swift technical triage, and proactive security monitoring. This role can be based in either our Canberra or Sydney office.

If you are a SecOps specialist who thrives on investigating anomalous network behavior, validating cloud and system deployments against strict compliance controls, and bridging the gap between real-time security operations and core engineering squads,

this is your chance to own a high-impact, high-security realm.

You will:

- Own L2 incident response by acting as the second-line triage point for escalated issues, resolving complex tickets, and routing unresolved infrastructure bottlenecks to the right engineering squads.
- Execute operations and deployments by performing system configuration changes, validating environment health, and collaborating with technology teams to push new products live under strict change controls.
- Lead major incident triage by conducting deep-dive investigations and root-cause analysis during outages, coordinating cross-team efforts to deliver clear workarounds and long-term fixes.
- Drive continuous reliability by identifying manual overhead or performance bottlenecks, contributing directly to infrastructure automation, and partnering with development squads to build system resilience.
- Own operational knowledge management by authoring comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintaining clear runbooks to elevate collective team capacity.

To be successful you will be able to demonstrate the following:

- Australian Citizenship: Must hold or have the ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance.
- 3 to 5 years of operational experience in SecOps, network administration, or technical support within complex IT, cloud, or highly regulated enterprise environments.
- Advanced problem-solving and sharp attention to detail, with a proven ability to think critically during high-pressure network and security incidents.
- Robust adaptability and stakeholder communication skills, comfortably managing incident communications and translating technical findings into clear risk updates.

- Familiarity with structured frameworks such as ITIL, Agile delivery methods, or secure governance models, with a focus on automation and continuous compliance.
- Security Monitoring & Triage: Practical experience identifying anomalous network behavior, auditing firewall rule bases, and managing security alerts within a SOC or high-compliance operations environment.
- Vulnerability & Compliance Management: Competency validating environment configurations against strict compliance benchmarks, ensuring secure patch management, and eliminating configuration drift.
- Incident Response Runbooks: Proven ability to follow and enhance structured incident playbooks for quick isolation, mitigation, and post-incident compliance logging.
- Relevant Security Certifications: Holding CompTIA Security+, CEH, GIAC, or equivalent security-focused credentials alongside practical Linux CLI and automation scripting (Python/Shell) experience is highly desirable.
- The grit and professional maturity required to navigate a fast-paced, expanding scale-up environment where rapid execution and practical problem-solving are paramount.
