We stay when it gets hard. We need people who will too.
Tideline Support works with adults whose lives are complex: serious mental health conditions, time in hospital, and support that has broken down before. We build trust first, and we don't walk away after a hard day.
This is a community support and drop-in role. You'll work two regular afternoon shifts with one person, partly out in the community and partly at their home. Consistency matters: you'll be the familiar face they get to know.
What a shift looks like
- Drop in: a calm hello at home, a quick check-in, time to settle, and two transparent choices for the afternoon.
- Out in the community: one meaningful activity, such as music, sport or a visit to a performing arts venue, with time to prepare, travel and take breaks.
- At home: working alongside them on everyday tasks like a simple meal, laundry, essential shopping or getting ready.
- Wrap up: a quieter return, then a clear, accurate handover.
Some days the plan won't happen. That's fine. You'll adjust, offer a simpler option, and still make the shift worthwhile.
What the work asks of you
- Following plans exactly. You put the behaviour support plan, crisis plan and clinical team's communication guidance into practice as written, every shift.
- Responding to repetition and rituals. You stay calm and use the agreed responses, without challenging or rushing.
- Clear professional boundaries. You're warm but professional, with no personal social media or private contact. You respond to boundary-crossing comments the agreed way, and report them.
- Small steps. Explain one or two steps at a time, show rather than tell, give processing time, and notice effort.
- Dignity first.
Ask before any personal support or entering personal spaces.
- Clear, observable notes. Write "joined in briefly after preparation", not "had a good day".
- Staying steady under pressure. You follow the crisis plan if distress escalates, then debrief and come back next shift.
