Onboard Marine Services is seeking an experienced Senior Marine Mechanic to join our established service department in Sydney Harbour. This role suits a tradesman with minimum 5 years post‑trade experience, strong diagnostic capability, and the professionalism required to represent a premium marine service provider.

About the Role

You will lead complex diagnostics, servicing, and repairs across petrol and diesel engines, sterndrives, IPS drivelines, and associated vessel systems. The position requires confident customer interaction, mentoring junior staff, and maintaining the high standards our clients expect.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs across modern marine engine platforms
- Service and maintain sterndrives, IPS drivelines, and vessel systems
- Communicate professionally with customers, providing clear explanations and updates
- Oversee, train, and support apprentices and junior mechanics
- Maintain punctuality, presentation, and consistent high‑quality workmanship
- Operate and manoeuvre vessels of various types safely and confidently

Required Skills & Experience





- Minimum 5 years experience as a qualified Marine Mechanic
- Strong diagnostic skills across petrol and diesel engines
- Experience with Volvo Penta, MAN, MerCruiser, and similar platforms (highly regarded)
- Excellent customer communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lead, mentor, and oversee younger employees
- Reliable, well presented, punctual, and proactive
- Competent vessel‑handling skills

Pay: $60,900.00 – $105,000.00 per year
