Join the Armadale Gymnastics Club Coaching Team!

Are you a passionate, motivated and enthusiastic gymnastics coach looking to join a supportive and well-established club? Armadale Gymnastics Club is looking for a dedicated coach to join our growing team!

As a large, long-standing, not-for-profit gymnastics club, we pride ourselves on providing a positive and inclusive environment where gymnasts of all ages and abilities can thrive.

We offer three gymnastics pathways: Recreational, Club Levels and State Levels, allowing our gymnasts to develop their skills and pursue their individual goals, whether they participate purely for enjoyment or aspire to competitive success.

We believe that excellent gymnastics programs start with great coaches. That's why we place a strong emphasis on supporting our coaching team, encouraging professional development and creating opportunities for coaches to grow and excel within their roles.

Why Work With Us?

At Armadale Gymnastics Club, you'll be joining an established, committee-led organisation that genuinely values its coaches and the important role they play in our gymnastics community.

We offer a range of benefits and opportunities, including:

- A supportive coaching environment: Work alongside an experienced and collaborative coaching team, with the backing of our dedicated management team and volunteer committee.
- Structured recreational lesson plans: Tailored lesson plans are supplied for all recreational classes, helping coaches deliver consistent, engaging and progressive sessions while reducing preparation time.
- Free professional development workshops: Access coaching workshops each term, designed to extend your technical knowledge, improve your coaching skills and build confidence across different areas of gymnastics.
- KPI incentives and recognition: We recognise and reward coaches who demonstrate initiative, commitment and excellence through our KPI incentive program and Coach of the Term awards.
- Opportunities for career progression: Develop your skills, take on additional responsibilities and explore opportunities to progress into higher-level coaching and leadership roles.
- Diverse coaching opportunities: With recreational, club and state pathways available, our club provides opportunities to gain experience across a variety of gymnastics programs and skill levels.
- A welcoming club community: Become part of a long-standing gymnastics community that values teamwork, professionalism, personal development and creating positive experiences for every gymnast.

About the Role

As a gymnastics coach at Armadale Gymnastics Club, you will be responsible for delivering safe, engaging and progressive gymnastics classes while fostering a positive learning environment.

Our coaches are expected to demonstrate professionalism, enthusiasm and initiative, ensuring every gymnast receives quality instruction and encouragement throughout their gymnastics journey.

Key responsibilities include:

- Planning and delivering structured, age-appropriate gymnastics sessions in line with our club's programs and expectations.
- Teaching gymnastics skills with a strong focus on correct technique, shaping, strength, flexibility and safe progressions.
- Creating a positive, encouraging and inclusive environment where gymnasts feel supported and motivated.
- Maintaining appropriate supervision, class management and safety standards at all times.
- Monitoring gymnast progression and providing constructive feedback to support individual development.
- Working collaboratively with fellow coaches, management and other club representatives.
- Following all club policies, procedures, child safeguarding requirements and coaching expectations.
- Assisting with equipment preparation, set-up and pack-away as required.
- Demonstrating initiative and ensuring time spent on the gym floor is productive, purposeful and focused on gymnast development.

Essential Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must:

- Hold a current Gymnastics WA recognised coaching accreditation.
- Have previous experience working with children, either through gymnastics coaching or other relevant child-focused roles.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the Women's Artistic Gymnastics Australian Levels Program (WAG ALP) Manual.
- Have knowledge of the Starmites Club Levels Manual, including appropriate skill progressions and expectations.
- Hold a current, approved Working With Children Check (WWCC), or be eligible and willing to obtain one.
- Be available to participate in our rotating equipment set-up roster, approximately one Friday evening per month.
- Be committed to maintaining a safe, professional and child-focused coaching environment.

Highly Desirable Qualifications & Experience

While not all of the following are essential, we would particularly love to hear from applicants who have:

- An Intermediate Gymnastics Coaching Accreditation or higher.
- Previous experience coaching State Levels 3–5 and/or Club Levels 4–6.
- Experience independently developing and implementing structured gymnastics lesson plans.
- A current First Aid Certificate.
- Experience assessing gymnast progression and adapting training programs to suit different abilities.
- Positive professional references from previous roles working with children, demonstrating strong relationships, professionalism and effective communication.

The Qualities We're Looking For

Qualifications and experience are important, but we're equally interested in finding someone who will be a great fit within our coaching team and club culture.

Our ideal candidate will:

Be a team player. Work positively and respectfully alongside other coaches, contribute to a supportive workplace and understand the importance of working together to achieve the best outcomes for our gymnasts.

Show initiative. Be proactive, motivated and capable of identifying what needs to be done without always requiring direction. We value coaches who make productive use of their time on the gym floor and actively contribute to the smooth running of classes.

Be open-minded and adaptable. Understand that every gymnastics club operates differently, with its own policies, procedures and expectations. We are looking for someone who is willing to learn, embrace our club's approach and adapt their coaching practices where required.

Be committed to professional growth. Show enthusiasm for learning new coaching techniques, participating in professional development opportunities and continually improving their knowledge and abilities.

Have excellent communication skills. Build positive relationships with gymnasts, parents, fellow coaches and management while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

Be reliable and professional. Demonstrate punctuality, consistency, accountability and a genuine commitment to the responsibilities of the role.

Put gymnasts first. Above all, we want coaches who genuinely enjoy working with children, celebrate individual achievements and understand that gymnastics should be a safe, positive and rewarding experience for every participant.
