THE ROLE

Saunders International is seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to join our Newcastle team and help secure civil water and structures infrastructure projects across NSW. This is an chance to contribute to a growing tender pipeline while working with experienced tendering teams in both Newcastle and Victoria.

This is a full-time position based in our Newcastle office. You will prepare accurate, competitive and commercially sound estimates from first principles. You will assess project scope, construction methodology, quantities, resources, market pricing, contractual requirements and tender risks, and support the development of high-quality submissions within required timeframes.

As a Civil Estimator, you will:

• Prepare detailed first-principles estimates for civil water and structures projects, including pump stations and treatment plants

• Develop work breakdown structures, requests for quotation, procurement plans and tender pricing

• Review drawings, specifications, scopes, addenda, contracts and bills of quantities

• Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations, including benchmarking and gap analysis

• Identify scope gaps, estimating risks, latent conditions and contractual exposures before submission

• Support commercial reviews, tender negotiations and compliant submissions

• Manage multiple tenders and provide clear handovers to project delivery teams

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

• Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field





• Five or more years’ experience in a tendering or estimating role within civil water infrastructure

• Strong understanding of civil construction methodologies and engineering drawings

• Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate estimates and manage competing tender deadlines

• Strong commercial awareness, attention to detail and stakeholder communication skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office

• Experience using Pronamics or similar estimating software is desirable
