About New Porgera

New Porgera Limited (NPL) is a company incorporated in Papua New Guinea and owns the Porgera Gold Mine in Enga Province. The Porgera Gold Mine will employ nearly 3,000 Papua New Guineans at full production, and over the last 30 years of life of the mine it has contributed approximately 10% of Papua New Guinea’s total annual exports.

About the role

Embark on a leadership journey at the Porgera Mine operations as we seek a seasoned and results-oriented Processing Superintendent. Reporting directly to the Alternate Manager - Processing, you will wield significant influence in shaping and executing strategies to optimize processing plant performance and enhance gold recovery. As a Superintendent with extensive experience in gold processing operations, your leadership acumen and proven track record will be instrumental in navigating the complexities of our large-scale operation.

Key responsibilities:

- Formulate and implement the strategic operating plan and production budget for the Processing Department, ensuring alignment with both the short and long-term objectives outlined in the Life of Mine Plan.

- Oversee and optimise coordination among the Processing Plant, Assay Laboratory, and Metallurgy departments to maximize efficiency and productivity.

- A critical function is the design, implementation, and oversight of a competency-based training and development plan for the operations team to build essential skills, enhance performance, and drive operational excellence.

- The role also involves enforcing rigorous processing plant security action plans,



with a robust emphasis on effectively managing non-compliance within maintenance and processing disciplines.

- A commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement is essential to maintain a safe and healthy work environment, meet environmental targets, and ensure legal compliance.

- This role entails building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders involved in NPL’s mining activities in accordance with Community Relations Policies, leading engagement initiatives with the local community to foster positive, long-term outcomes, and encouraging collaboration across Barrick Niugini Limited through the shared use of infrastructure and support services.

About you:

- Minimum of 10 years' hands-on experience in processing operations, with substantial exposure to large and complex operations, preferably within gold processing.

- A background in metallurgy, chemical engineering, or a related field is essential, ideally supported by advanced certifications or qualifications.

- Experience with autoclaves or equivalent expertise in managing large-scale processing plants is highly desirable.

- Able to demonstrate at least three years in a Superintendent role, demonstrating a strong track record in safety leadership, production performance, and the development and execution of training strategies.



Strong leadership capabilities are required, particularly the ability to mentor and develop national leaders.

- While international experience in a developing country is advantageous, it is not mandatory. The role also demands a practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving and a readiness to engage with operational challenges across various levels. Excellent collaboration skills are essential to foster strong interdepartmental cooperation and promote a culture of partnership and mutual accountability.

The position requires a high energy individual, hands-on management style and desire to continuously improve you and your team’s knowledge and systems and methods of work.
