Position Overview: AJL Mechanical Contracting is a Western Australian owned and operated business providing mechanical construction, maintenance, fabrication and shutdown services.
Specialising in mineral processing plants, the business supports the installation, commissioning and maintenance of mills, pumps and other plant equipment.
As a Mechanical Fitter at AJL Mechanical Contracting, you will carry out mechanical fitting, installation, inspection, maintenance and repair work across workshop and client sites.
You will support planned shutdowns, preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs and construction projects to maintain safe and reliable plant operations.
Responsibilities and Tasks: Read technical drawings, equipment manuals and specifications to plan mechanical fitting, assembly and maintenance tasks.
Inspect mills, crushers, screens, conveyors, pumps and drive systems, diagnose mechanical faults and identify repair requirements.
Dismantle, inspect, repair and reassemble mechanical equipment, replacing worn or defective parts and assemblies.
Remove and replace belts, motors, gearboxes, pulleys, bearings, couplings and conveyor components.
Overhaul slurry pumps and align pumps,



motors and drive assemblies using appropriate measuring and alignment equipment.
Maintain belt filters, conveyor skirts and scrapers, chutes, cable reelers and hose reelers.
Install and fit mechanical equipment and fabricated components during construction, plant upgrades and shutdowns.
Perform lubrication checks, adjustments, preventative maintenance and post-maintenance operational testing; record work completed and defects identified.
Follow isolation, permit-to-work and lifting procedures, maintain safe worksites and coordinate tasks with supervisors and other trades.
Qualifications and Skills: Relevant qualification: Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Fitting), or equivalent.
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a Mechanical Fitter.
Experience with fixed plant in mining, mineral processing or a similar industrial environment.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and use precision measuring and alignment equipment.
Strong fault-finding and communication skills; ability to work independently and within a team.
Commitment to safety and quality workmanship, with willingness to travel to project sites and work agreed rosters.
Salary: The role offers $45-$55 per hour plus superannuation, equivalent to $88,920-$108,680 per annum based on a 38-hour work week.
