Summary

Airservices Australia has an exciting Fixed Term 24-months opportunity for an experienced Infrastructure Engineering Team Leader to support the ARFF NexGen Program. This is a unique opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for supporting the design and delivery of Aviation Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) facilities across Australia.

As the ARFF NexGen Infrastructure Engineering Team Leader, you will provide technical leadership and governance across the planning, design, construction, testing and handover of new and upgraded Fire Stations. Leading a team of Mechanical, Electrical, Fire and Structural Engineers, you will ensure infrastructure solutions are fit-for-purpose, operationally effective, compliant, and aligned with Airservices' long-term asset and operational requirements.

This dynamic role provides exposure to the full project lifecycle, from strategic planning and concept development through to witness testing, commissioning and operational acceptance. You will work closely with project managers, consultants, contractors and ARFF operational stakeholders to deliver critical infrastructure that supports frontline emergency response capability across Australia's aviation network.

The Organisation

Airservices Australia (Airservices) is a government-owned organisation providing safe, secure, efficient and environmentally responsible services to the aviation industry. Each year we manage over four million aircraft movements carrying more than 156 million passengers and provide air navigation services across 11 per cent of the world’s airspace.

Airservices has two major operating centres in Melbourne and Brisbane and a corporate office in Canberra. We operate 29 air traffic towers at international and regional airports and provide aviation rescue fire fighting services at 27 Australian airports.

We are committed to continuing to improve our business by providing our customers with services they value and embedding new ways of working and technology investments to further innovate and optimise.

The Role & The Team

As the ARFF NexGen Infrastructure Engineering Team Leader, you will lead a multidisciplinary engineering team delivering infrastructure outcomes for Airservices' next generation Fire Stations and associated operational facilities. You will be accountable for the technical direction, engineering governance, and capability development of Mechanical, Electrical, Fire and Structural Engineers supporting a nationally significant infrastructure portfolio.

Working closely with the ARFF NexGen Program, project managers, operations stakeholders, consultants and contractors,

you will ensure engineering solutions meet operational requirements, legislative obligations, and Airservices' standards for safety, reliability and maintainability.

You'll join a highly skilled engineering workforce responsible for delivering complex operational infrastructure that enables Airservices to provide critical aviation rescue and fire fighting services across Australia's airport network.

In this leadership role, you will:

- Lead and develop a team of Mechanical, Electrical, Fire and Structural Engineers, fostering a collaborative, high-performing and customer-focused culture.
- Provide engineering leadership and technical governance across the planning, design, construction, testing and commissioning of new and upgraded ARFF Fire Stations.
- Establish engineering priorities, allocate resources and manage team workload to support program delivery outcomes.
- Act as the primary engineering interface between the ARFF NexGen Program, operational stakeholders and the Built Environment Asset Integrity team.
- Review and endorse engineering designs, technical specifications and infrastructure solutions to ensure compliance with Airservices requirements, relevant legislation and Australian Standards.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering inputs across all project phases from concept development through to operational handover.
- Coordinate with external engineering firms to provide supplementary engineering resourcing to meet project requirements.
- Work closely with external design consultants and contractors to deliver safe, compliant and operationally effective infrastructure outcomes.
- Lead technical reviews, risk assessments and engineering assurance activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support project managers in managing scope, cost, schedule and technical risks.
- Provide timely advice to senior management on engineering risks, project performance and critical dependencies.
- Participate in construction inspections, witness testing, site acceptance testing and operational readiness activities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the ongoing development of engineering standards, frameworks and best practices across Airservices.
