Senior Project Manager - New Build & Fit Out Projects

- Salary (depending on experience) up to $190,000 plus superannuation

About the Company :

A Melbourne based Commercial Contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join their team and take ownership of a portfolio of commercial construction projects, with a robust focus on new builds alongside fit-out and refurbishment works.

This is an important appointment for the business. You'll be joining a capable team, bringing the experience, leadership and commercial understanding required to drive projects forward, maintain strong client relationships and help develop the people around you.

You'll oversee approximately 3–4 projects at any one time, with values ranging from $500K up to $8M. Projects are predominantly located across Melbourne's eastern and northern suburbs, with some work extending into the western suburbs and regional Victoria.

This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys being involved in the detail, takes ownership and understands that successful project delivery comes down to strong communication, organisation and relationships.

Key Responsibilities

- Take ownership of the end-to-end delivery of multiple commercial construction projects, primarily new builds, alongside fit-out and refurbishment works.

- Manage projects from pre-construction and procurement through to construction, completion and handover.

- Oversee project programmes, budgets, cost control, variations and contractual obligations.





- Coordinate and manage subcontractors, consultants, suppliers and internal project teams.

- Maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring expectations are managed and projects are delivered to a high standard.

- Identify and proactively manage project risks, challenges and potential delays.

- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with quality, safety and compliance requirements.

- Provide leadership, guidance and mentorship to a Project Coordinator and Contract Administrator.

- Support the development of the wider team, sharing your knowledge and experience.

- Maintain a hands-on approach to project management, stepping in wherever required to ensure the best outcome for clients and the business.

About You

To be successful in this position, you'll be an experienced Project Manager with a solid background in commercial construction and a proven ability to independently manage projects from start to finish.

You'll be someone who takes genuine pride in their work, understands the importance of client relationships and enjoys being part of a collaborative team.

You'll ideally bring:

- Extensive experience delivering commercial construction projects, particularly new builds, fit-outs and refurbishments.

- A proven track record managing projects ranging from $500K to $8M.

- Strong commercial, contractual and financial management capabilities.





- The ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while maintaining attention to detail.

- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and leadership skills.

- Experience mentoring and developing junior team members.

- Strong organisational skills and the ability to drive projects forward without needing to be constantly managed.

- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the confidence to make decisions and take accountability.
