New to mining? Starting your trade? Byrnecut is a great place to begin. We're one of Australia's largest underground mining contractors, with 22 operations across the country: 20 in Western Australia and 2 in South Australia. The Byrnecut Group has more than 8,000 employees and a multi-million dollar fleet of specialised underground mining equipment.

Where you could start

- New to mining, underground operators: entry-level truck driver and nipper positions. No underground experience needed.

What to expect on roster

Rosters vary by site, but most entry-level rosters are two weeks on, one week off. You'll start on day shift, then move to night shift after your first week. In some cases, night shift is part of the role. Most of our sites are fly-in fly-out.

What we're looking for

- No mining experience required for entry-level operator roles
- Willingness to work 12-hour shifts, including nights in some cases




- A willingness to learn and take on feedback
- A strong commitment to safety
- A good attitude and a team-first mindset
- Physically fit and comfortable working underground

Our Sites

Our sites cover gold, copper, zinc and lithium, and more, for some of the biggest names in Australian mining. Some are steady, well-established mines. Some are ramping up fast, like Kathleen Valley, our largest-ever contract. And some are brand new, with Gwalia, Ulysses and Youanmi all starting in the last 12 months. That mix means more places to start, more pathways to follow and more room to grow than almost anywhere else in the industry.
